Ever the intellectual, he is all too eager to share his impressive breadth of knowledge with anyone who will listen. Never one to miss the mark, he fires arrows at foes with expert precision.
Trey is a blond youth with blue eyes. He wears a Class Zero uniform that consists of a black jacket, white pants, and a medium-sized red mantle. He wears protective archery equipment, including a leather archery glove on his right hand and a chest guard over the left side of his chest, staples also of his alternate outfits. His summer uniform has a white short-sleeved jacket, red mantle, black tie and gloves and pants. His formal uniform has a red jacket, black trousers with silver decorations at the ends of the trouser legs, and a white mantle. In his dress uniform he wears one white glove, as he retains the archery glove. Trey's l'Cie brand, if he became one, would be located on his left forearm.
Cool, calm and collected inside and out, Trey takes pains to maintain a pristine image lest someone find some flaw they might exploit. He is extremely eager to share his impressive breadth of knowledge with anyone within earshot. However, Trey's unfortunate audience usually tires of his endless exposition, and listeners often cut him off mid-explanation.
Trey is calm and well-mannered. He gives advice to his comrades in Class Zero and is loquacious. While he and Queen are the "brainiacs" of the class, Trey often goes on rants and gives encyclopedic explanations to a variety of things as opposed to Queen, who is straight to the point with her words. Trey's tendency to over explain and his patronizing tone get on his classmates' nerves from time to time, as though he sometimes finds himself envying his adoptive siblings, he always frames it as being superior to them, such as saying he wishes to "get by without people skills like King" or wishing to "live his life without thinking like Nine" for a change.
Trey is a member of Class Eleventh and dons a white mantle.
He can be found in the Crystarium during the morning, afternoon, and evening.
Just thought I'd share information.
Raised at a special facility since the age of eight, Trey studied the art of combat under the tutelage of his adoptive mother Dr. Arecia Al-Rashia, the archsorceress of the Sorcery Division of Akademeia, the magic academy of the Dominion of Rubrum. He joined Class Zero, a group of students that fights the invasion of Rubrum by Milites Empire. As part of the resistance operation "Operation Apostle", he and his comrades seek to become the Agito, a messiah prophesied in ancient mythology to appear at the time of Tempus Finis, an apocalyptic calamity.
After the Capital Liberation campaign Trey muses over the empire's ruthlessness in using weapons like the crystal jammer Class Zero had had to destroy, and the Ultima Bomb that has obliterated the Lorican Alliance, nigh killing all of its population. The class is officially enrolled and Trey is often one to speak up during commanding officer Kurasame Susaya's lectures.
After Togoreth is destroyed in a clash between l'Cie, Trey is impressed with the l'Cie's sheer power and offers to educate others on their role as the Crystals' "avatars" in Orience. He finds it interesting that even if the Crystals erase the memories of the dead from the living, people still recall the names and faces of l'Cie after they turn to crystal. He speculates that since l'Cie live such solitary lives that can span centuries, they simply outlive all who might grieve for them.
After the mission to liberate Iscah, the cadets return to Akademeia and Deuce and Trey spot Ace sleeping in the back garden. Deuce worries he will get ill sleeping outside and wakes him up. Trey begins to lecture about dreaming, but Deuce interrupts him by telling Ace Rem is looking for him, and they abandon Trey mid-sentence, offending him.
Trey hangs out with Cinque at the Akademeia Armory and spots Ryid Uruk. Cinque is impressed by his massive size and Trey reprimands her for pointing out others' unusual appearance out loud. Ryid is not offended however, and explains his size is due to his Lorican blood. Cinque remembers Lorica was annihilated by the empire, and Trey says they will avenge the fallen, but Ryid is uninterested in revenge. Afterward Trey states that they are "pawns" to the Central Command, and that while it is an honor to be deployed—as it is a sign of trust in their competence—Trey speculates the command doesn't like its "pawns" to exercise too much independent thought.
When the cadets are sent to sabotage the imperial magitek armor program they face off against the White Tiger Primus l'Cie Nimbus with Trey in the front lines, but get orders to cease fire due to a newly wrought armistice. If they do the Code Crimson mission to sabotage the Frosti Depot instead, Trey senses a sniper, and calculates the distance they are being aimed at. After the cadets fell the Militesi MA Balmung, Trey takes a shot at the sniper before Naghi Minatsuchi from the clandestine Class Ninth appears to inform them of the armistice.
Kurasame travels to the imperial capital as Chancellor Khalia Chival VI's aide and negotiates for the cadets' safety, and afterward explains the situation to them: the empire had proposed peace before the cadets' mission was underway, but they could not contact them in time to halt it. The cadets disagree with the treaty, positing that the empire has no right to ask for peace for being the initial aggressor.
They meet Queen Andoria of the Kingdom of Concordia who explains that peace is the Will of the Crystals, and the cadets' opposition would only lead to Tempus Finis. Yet, the cadets struggle accepting that what they have been fighting for is against the Crystal's will. Afterward Trey finds it suspicious they have been given a room with a guarded exit and barred windows.
Queen Andoria is assassinated and Class Zero is blamed for it. The cadets are ambushed at the Armada Hotel, confirming Trey's suspicions of it having been a trap, but as he begins to lay down his observations he is cut off by Cater. The cadets make a hasty escape from the city, realizing they are unable to contact Central Command. Trey remembers meeting a queen, but nothing else of her, meaning their memories must have been erased, indicating she has truly died.
Queen highlights it being odd they had been given leave in Ingram rather than have them repatriated. Machina is upset at the possibility they had been left on their own on purpose. During their trek through the train tunnels Rem gets dizzy and tries to hide it. Queen says they can't stop for one person, angering Machina, but Trey defends her saying Queen only wants for them to find a safer place.
The cadets face off against Celestia, Queen Andoria's aide, who, likewise, holds them culpable for the regicide. As the cadets explain their side of the story Celestia helps them escape the city to a deserted house in the Old Lorica Region where they ponder why they still can't contact Central Command. Trey is impressed with the bravery Deuce showed against Celestia, and begins to explain about the Concordian kings until he is cut off by Cater as they have more important matters to tend to. Machina storms off after blaming Class Zero for his brother Izana's death.
The cadets decide to stay put overnight and depart at sunrise. Trey mentions he heard a Concordian in Ingram mention a "king," yet only women can ascend the throne, finding this peculiar. When Cater mentions her frequent bouts of déjà vu Trey attempts to explain the mechanics behind the phenomenon, exasperating her. Machina returns in the morning as Deuce exclaims the COMM is working again and she has reached the dominion.
Kurasame has the cadets rescued by airship and back in Akademeia explains there will likely be an investigation, and implies the cadets switched off their COMM to avoid being contacted. The cadets find the accusations ridiculous. Trey's talk of deja vu spooked Cater, who talks about her fears with "Mother" who dismisses them, saying Cater is healthy. As Trey hears news of a new king in Concordia, he theorizes the king had schemed with Marshal Cid Aulstyne of the empire to usurp Andoria, Cid exploiting the king's lust for power. He thinks they must simply endure being held responsible for the kingdom's shift in alliance and expect nothing in return.
After the cadets return from a mission to reclaim Eibon, they assemble in the classroom to receive their next orders from Kurasame, but Machina has gone missing. Kurasame explains to the rest the upcoming battle plan against the joint Militesi-Concordian forces. Class Zero is to be sent with the Vermilion Bird Primus l'Cie Lord Zhuyu to fight off the Concordian dragons with an airship fleet, while Kurasame will accompany the rest of Rubrum's legionaries, as well as Akademeia Agito Cadets and trainees, to the Militesi border for Vermilion Bird Secundus l'Cie Lady Caetuna to summon a Verboten Eidolon. Trey is shocked two l'Cie are taking part in the campaign, as such an event is unheard of.
The cadets help Rubrum secure victory on the eastern front by defeating Shinryu Celestia. The western front is falling back and Class Zero is recalled as reinforcements to destroy the empire's crystal jammer, as the cadets have been augmented by their adoptive mother to be able to wield magic independent of the Vermilion Bird Crystal. Lady Caetuna begins summoning Alexander for which Kurasame and many cadets give their lives to complete the summoning. Alexander obliterates the Militesi forces, and Caetuna enters crystal stasis. Class Zero visits the numerous new graves in the Akademeia cemetery but cannot comprehend the losses as all memories of Kurasame as well as the others perished have been removed from them by the Vermilion Bird Crystal.
Donning his new red cape Naghi meets Sice and Trey outside classroom zero bringing news he has joined Class Zero as he has been assigned by dominion intel to report on them. As Cinque and Deuce join them, they all act baffled, Trey asking if Naghi should be telling them that. Naghi doesn't want to hide anything because he considers Class Zero his friends. Machina has returned and Trey wonders where his work ethic has disappeared. When Machina brushes off Cater acting friendly toward him, Trey steps in to stop the situation from escalating. Machina announces he alone will protect Rem, the dominion, and all of Orience, alienating his classmates further.
After Class Zero helps Rubrum invade Concordia, Trey visits the cemetery and runs into Rem who ponders her inability mourn for the deaths of people she cannot remember. Trey says the memory erosion is a blessing granted by the Crystals, as the sad memories would make them unable to go on, but Rem doesn't want to be forgotten.
As the final showdown against the empire and Cid Aulstyne begins, the class is sent to help conquer the imperial capital. Machina disappears and the others go without him, and best the Militesi General Qator Bashtar in his new and improved MA. The empire falls and Orience is united under the Vermilion Bird banner, but as the cadets return to Akademeia they find its cadets and legionaries slain by Rursan Reavers and the dominion commanders gone: Tempus Finis has begun.
Other cadets reveal the once Code Crimson missions, which Class Zero partook, making the remaining cadets turn against them, blaming them for the ensuing apocalypse. Trey remarks that those hailed as heroes are doomed to be vilified as scapegoats sooner or later. Rem's illness reaches its final stages and she collapses. Arecia explains the cadets have lived their lives according to the Will of Crystals recorded in the Akashic Records, but now that the "souls have been released" they can write their own ending, as humans have the power to decide how they live or die, hinting at a vital decision the cadets would soon need to make. Trey ponders how they can battle the Rursus, the beings currently slaughtering everyone in Orience, if they destroy phantoma, the essence of life itself.
After hearing from Naghi Cid Aulstyne is headed to the sanctuary where the Rursus emerged from, Trey, Queen, Ace and the others recall the words written in the Nameless Tome that extolls the legends and myths of Orience, and surmise he plans to become Agito. Queen calls everyone to the Altocrystarium room where she tells them about the Judge who resides in the newly appeared sanctuary, Pandæmonium, to make the Final Decision: if there is no Agito, Orience will be destroyed by the Rursus. The cadets plan to infiltrate the sanctuary to speak to the Judge while knowing that without Arecia they will not be revived if they fall in battle. Trey sees their only chance against the Rursus is to combine their efforts as a team.
The cadets are taken to Pandæmonium by Celestia who loses her humanity and turns into Shinryu Celestia for having defied the Focus given to her by the Azure Dragon Crystal. As the cadets head to the top of the temple guided by Cid's voice, the Vermilion Bird Crystal asks them to become l'Cie. If they accept the cadets are slain by the Rursus, Arecia deems the spiral another failed experiment and the world is reborn for another attempt.
If they choose to remain mortal, the Vermilion Bird brands Rem, still slumped in Arecia's office back in Akademeia, in their stead, and sends her to intercept a White Tiger l'Cie it had sensed in Pandæmonium, wanting one of the Vermilion Bird to become Agito. As Rem engages the l'Cie she is impaled by his rapier, and it turns out the l'Cie was Machina who had willingly inherited the White Tiger l'Cie Qun'mi Tru'e's Focus to become strong enough to protect Rem. As Rem dies, both enter crystal stasis, the cadets mourning the sight when they happen upon their crystal.
The cadets face off against Cid who has become the Rursan Arbiter, possessed by the fal'Cie Gala. He deems Class Zero unfit to be Agito, and thus sets out to destroy Orience. Machina and Rem's crystal bestows the cadets with their power allowing them to prevail, but like the rest of Class Zero, Trey meets his end after they vanquish the Judge. The cadets spend their final moments talking about all the things they would have done after the war. The mysterious Tiz and Joker, who had been observing the class's progress, ask for Arecia to listen to the class's wishes from beyond the grave.
By listening to their souls Arecia learns the class loves her, but have made their own decision on how they met their end and do not wish to be revived. Arecia releases Machina and Rem from crystal stasis and instead of restarting the spiral, departs from Orience, abandoning the experiment to find Etro's gate with the Agito. The Crystals of Orience fade and people are allowed to remember the dead, Machina and Rem holding dear the memories of Class Zero.
In the alternate ending where Arecia removes the Crystals from Orience's history, Trey lives at the peristylium. He plays the electronic keyboard in a band with King and Jack. He and King decide to skip practice, to the annoyance of Jack, telling him they are already playing the music in their hearts. Jack follows them, and they pass by Deuce, Cinque, and Queen.
Trey wields a bow in battle. Having the farthest range among the ranged characters, his shots are quick and accurately deadly but he is slower than Cater or King. Unlike Cater, he charges his attack manually.
Trey can make use of barriers to cover him while he fires at enemies. He has a skill that allows him to drain the HP of his foes while increasing Killsight chance. His Burst Delta and Grand Delta are useful against hordes of enemies, and also exceptional against large machinery. His Dynamite Arrow is useful against swift enemies due to its feint tactical use.
Trey's Firewall allows him to perform a retreating melee attack, then release a fire arrow that singes the earth creating a wall of fire. He can create up to three fire walls at a time, useful against slow advancing enemies, such as the Flan.
Trey can charge his attack and move about before unleashing his shot giving him advantage in exploiting Breaksight or Killsight. With his charged attack, his arrows travel faster and deal greater damage. Trey, Ace, Cinque and Cater are the only cadets who can charge their basic attacks while moving. Trey has no combo with normal attacks, but his repetitive drawing allows for short attack action time (almost as short as Deuce's), allowing him to dodge instantly after an attack. Trey is not a beginner-friendly character, and his role in battle is more like a sniper, exploiting enemies' weaknesses and vulnerability from further away.

"Trey" is one of the values in trumps, the Japanese term for traditional Western playing cards. It means "three" in Old French and was borrowed from earlier dicing games, where it referred to the corresponding value on a six-sided die.
- According to the Type-0 Novel, Trey wishes to continue his studies and become a scholar upon leaving Class Zero because he feels that it is his calling.
