Tower is a Rare Game enemy in the Pharos - Third Ascent in Final Fantasy XII. The Grand Helm is obtainable as a very rare drop from it. Tower is also fought in the Zodiac versions' Trial Mode in Stage 48 alongside continuously spawning Zombie Warlocks, where as Assassin's Arrows can be stolen from it.

Map of Tower's approximate spawn point.

Tower can be found on the Third Ascent by using the colorless Waystone, and will appear as soon as the player is brought to the area with the Dais of Ascendance on 88F. There is only a 20% chance of Tower appearing. If it does not spawn, the player should take the Waystone back to 79F and then use it again to warp back to 88F, and it will eventually appear.

Battle[]

When Tower appears, it will have a few buffs, which can be dispelled. Like most golem types, it uses a combination of black magicks, like Fira and Thundara.

Strategy[]

Arcane Magicks, such as Darkga, can take it down effectively.

Etymology and allusion[]

Being a derivation of Babil and named tower, the enemy alludes to the Tower of Babel. The Tower of Babel is from a story from the Book of Genesis in the Hebrew Scriptures/Old Testament/Torah, as well as other various ancient documents. The story tells of how early humanity began construction on a great tower that would extend to the heavens. However, God determined "nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them" so confused their language and scattered them over the face of all earth, leaving the tower and its city abandoned.

Its name may also allude to its spawn location, the Pharos at Ridorana, or that it is much taller than the Babil that it is derived from.

Being the gigantic fortress-like robots, Babil, Goliath, and Tower all sharing the same elemental alignments to the holy magicks could be the reference to the series's recurring summon Alexander; the rest of the Golem-Construct kind could be based on the said summon as well.
