Tonberry King is an optional boss in the game Final Fantasy VIII. He is encountered by defeating a large amount of Tonberries in the Centra Ruins. This can be very annoying, as Tonberries can be difficult to defeat. After the amount required is defeated, the Tonberry King appears to avenge the souls of all the tonberries killed by the party. Upon the Tonberry King's defeat, the player is granted the junctional Guardian Force, Tonberry.

The amount of Tonberries the player needs to defeat in order to engage the Tonberry King changes with the beginning of each new file, however it is usually about eighteen to twenty-one. Should the player run from the Tonberry King, they will have to fight the prerequisite number of Tonberries again to make him reappear.
If you Card a Tonberry, it does not count as defeating it. In other words, you would need to bring the Tonberries HP down to zero for it to count.
Contrary to popular belief, the player may leave the area and save it without having to start killing tonberries from zero.
"It's Sharp" is a single target attack using the equation of a target's enemy kills multiplied by 30.
"Junk" is a counterattack made after every fifth attack done to it. Items fall down on the party for a random amount of damage. These things are a pot, a kettle, a bottle of wine, cups, soccer ball and even a television.
