Timed Quests are daily quests in Final Fantasy XV that reward the player with Quest Points (QP), which can be cashed in for several rewards, including the exclusive novelty greatsword Afrosword. Timed Quests involve hunting enemies, ranging from easy tasks, like fighting sabertusks or garulas, to fighting superbosses. The amount of QP that can be earned depends on the difficulty of the hunt and the available daily hunt is determined by the date of the console, meaning that an online connection is not needed. The player can change the date on the console to trigger a desired Timed Quest and one does not need to close the game for the date to update.
Timed Quests are viewed from the menu and can be repeated, but the QP are only earned for the first completion per day. Enemies killed in Timed Quests yield item drops, EXP and AP like normal, making them good grinding opportunities.
The quest location is shown on the map when the player is on the open world of Lucis; quests never happen elsewhere. Going to the area on the map informs the player they have entered a Timed Quest and a timer appears in the corner of the screen. The enemies spawn with blue markers, and keep spawning as the player kills them until the player has felled enough to satisfy the quest requirements. Whether the player can attempt the quest depends on which chapter they are in; the superboss hunts are only in Chapter 15, for example.
Timed Quests have unique music by Afrojack in both the menu and the battles.

Creation and developmentEdit
Timed Quests were introduced in patch 1.05. They required the player to defeat a specific amount of monsters and rewarded an amount of AP, EXP, gil, and Oracle Ascension Coins for first completion that varied from quest to quest. These Timed Quests were only available for a limited time and required an ongoing internet connection. These Timed Quest concluded with patch 1.06.
Patch 1.09 reintroduced a redesigned version of online Timed Quests. The new quests featured several versions: hunt contests, rush contests and fishing contests that ran for approximately one week and featured leaderboards (hourly, daily and weekly). To rank high in the leaderboards one had to either defeat as many quest enemies as possible in an hour (hunts), finish the quest in the fastest time possible (rush contests) or catch as many fish as possible in a single hour (fishing contests). This new version had a new rewards system based on Quest Points(QP). There were two types of QP: one that remained through all Timed Quests, and another type associated with the quest in which they were earned. Finishing a Timed Quest for the first time rewarded 50 QP of each type and ranking in one of the three leaderboards also rewarded a certain amount of both types of QP depending on the player's position. Both types of QP had associated prize lists where the player could cash in their earned QP. The Afrosword was introduced as a possible reward obtained through Timed Quests. These online-based Timed Quests concluded in November of 2017 and the current offline-based version was introduced with patch 1.20.
