[view  · edit  · purge]Tiger Mask (タイガーマスク, Taigā Masuku) is a Japanese manga that was later adapted into an anime series. In real life, the name has been used by a succession of Japanese professional wrestling characters. The Tiger Mask persona is recognizable by its trademark mask, designed to look like a tiger's head. Example of the Tiger Mask's continuing presence in the Japanese popular culture is the recent Tiger Mask donation phenomenon.

[view  · edit  · purge]In Asian cultures, the dragon and the tiger are considered equal bestial rivals, with the dragon representative of things of "Yang" polarity and spirit, with the tiger representative of things of "Yin" polarity and matter. In the context of Eastern and Asian martial arts, the tiger is said to represent hard style and external martial arts, focusing on explosive speed, brute strength, and direct force against an opposing one.
