Thief (Final Fantasy Tactics A2)

"Dexterous and nimble, thieves excel at stealing from unwary and evading blows."
—Description

The Thief is a job in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift. This job allows the user to Steal various loot from an enemy, as well as Gil and Accessories, using various abilities learned from knives. It is available to Humes and Moogles. Thieves are very fast and have high evasion, but still having passable attack and magick stats (making it an ideal side class choice for any character who needs a speed boost). While no longer able to steal equipment (save for Accessories), thieves have the ability to steal loot that would otherwise be hard to come by in the normal course of the game. Enemies afflicted by sleep, stop, or petrify are easier to steal from (although unlike the first game, each subsequent theft on the same unit is less likely to succeed, even if these status effects are in place). A Scholar's Study ability can show exactly what can be stolen from a specific unit, making it useful to have if a player is looking for specific loot/items.

Kidd, the leader of a clan called "The Yellow Wings" is a Hume Thief that the player first encounters in the fist story related quest concerning his group blocking the road to Camoa; they required payment to pass unharmed, but were defeated and sent to jail. In the Camoa cup tourney they return with a vengeance. Another Hume Thief that stands out is Dayvis, who has stolen an experimental Knightsword called "the king Arthur;" the player must protect him and later retrieve it.
