The Three Little Piggies is a story from Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales. The story is about a trio of pig brothers who build houses to protect themselves from the elements and roving Tonberries.

The story is based on the Three Little Pigs, a fairy tale first published by the Brothers Grimm.

Volume 1: Puzzled Little Piggies[]

Story[]

Prologue[]

Once upon a time, there was a family of piggies blessed with three fine bothers.

The eldest brother boasted on a daily basis about how fast he could run. The middle brother was proud of his strength, and made sure everybody knew just how strong he was, too. The youngest brother, however, was not very quick on his feet, nor was he very strong -- in fact, he was quite slim for a piggy.

One day, their father came to them and said,

"Boys, these plains aren't as safe as they used to be. Wild, dangerous monsters called Tonberries wander about causing trouble. I will find a beautiful bride for whoever builds the most excellent home to take care of her in."

And with those words, the fierce fires of competition were ignited between the three piggies...

Epilogue 1: A Plain House[]

"Build it here, in the grassy plains!" Father Piggy called out.

Then they went to work.

The eldest brother used his quick feet to run around and gather all the straw in the village. In the blink of an eye, he had put together a fine house made of straw.

The middle brother used his strength to gather wood and had soon assembled an even finer house made of wood.

The youngest brother took his time, and after both of his brothers hand finished, he deftly constructed a sturdy-looking house made of bricks.

---

Their father inspected the houses and then declared,

"The most excellent house is the one made of brick!"

He pointed approvingly at the house his youngest son had built.

The two older brothers were shocked.

"Father, is these something wrong with your eyes? What is so wonderful about that house?"

Their father responded,

"Remember what I told you? The grassy plains are full of vicious Tonberries! A house made of straw or wood certainly wouldn't last long out here."

And so the youngest brother, as slow and skinny as he was, married his kind and beautiful piggy bride, and they lived happily ever after.

Epilogue 2: Swampy Abode[]

"Build it here, in the swamplands!" Father Piggy called out.

Then they went to work.

The eldest brother and the middle brother decided to team up against the youngest one. The dashed into town and bought up all the bricks they could find.

The youngest brother, however, didn't need any bricks; he happily built his house from straw.

---

Their father inspected the houses and then declared,

"The most excellent house is the one made of straw!"

The two older brothers were dumbstruck.

"Impossible!"

"But isn't the brick house supposed to be the winner?"

Their father responded,

"The swamplands are hot and humid. You house made of bricks will soon be full of mold."

"And take a look at this!"

The heavy house made of bricks had already started to slowly sink into the mud.

Epilogue 3: Seismic Sway[]

"Build it here in the village!" Father Piggy called out.

Then they went to work.

At the same time, smoke was slowly pouring out of the volcano near the village.

The eldest brother and the middle brother decided to team up against the youngest one. They dashed into town and bought up all the bricks they could find.

The youngest brother, however, didn't need any bricks; he happily built his house from wood.

---

Their father inspected the houses and then declared,

"The most excellent house is the one made of wood!"

The two older brothers were flabbergasted.

"No way!"

"This isn't fair!"

Their father responded:

"This village has always had many earthquakes. Your house made of bricks will crumble."

"Just watch!"

At that very moment, there was a mighty earthquake. The house of brick crumbled into pieces. The house of wood made by the youngest brother, however, stood tall and proud.

Volume 2: Hide and Shriek[]

Story[]

Prologue[]

Many days and nights had passed since the three piggy brothers had finished their house-building challenge.

The two older brothers had finally come to accept their younger brother for his faults.

Although he wasn't very fast or strong, he was the smartest of the bunch!

But then one day, a frightful event transpired! While the trio was on its way to town, the eldest brother accidentally tromped on a Tonberry's tail.

Karma!

One by one, more Tonberries started to appear from the nearby bushes, glaring at the three piggy brothers with stares that could melt ice!

Tonberries, you see, were famous for holding grudges -- against everybody!

The Tonberries gave chase to the piggy brothers, who dashed back to their homes as quick as their legs could carry them.

The Tonberries used their knives to hack away at the house of wood, making short work of it.

With their lanterns, they easily burnt down the house of straw.

The house of brick built by the youngest brother was still standing, but would the three cornered piggies be able to escape with their tails in one piece?

Epilogue 1: Makin' Bacon[]

Karma!

The three piggy brothers shook in fear as the Tonberry mob began its assault on the house of brick.

But the knives and lanterns of the Tonberries had no effect on the sturdy, brick walls, and the would-be invaders were having quite the rough time.

Seeing that, the eldest brother opened a window and called out in a loud voice,

"You lousy Tonberries! Give it up and go home!"

But in that very instant, the Tonberries leapt into the house through the now open window.

---

Karma!

Not missing a beat, they used their lanterns to set fire to the eldest brother's curly tail.

Epilogue 2: Chop Suey[]

The three piggy brothers let out a sigh of relief, seemingly protected by the house of brick.

"We're saved! Saved!"

But then the brothers heard a scratching sound from outside the house!

The Tonberries hadn't given up on trying to cut their way into the house of brick.

"Those Tonberries are really starting to fry my bacon!" moaned the middle brother.

As proud as could be, he opened the door and got ready to show those Tonberries a thing or two.

---

Karma!

Not missing a beat, the Tonberries used their knives to lop off a healthy chunk of the middle brother’s curly tail.

Epilogue 3: I Almost Forgot[]

The three piggy brothers let out a sigh of relief, seemingly protected by the house of brick.

"We're saved! Saved!"

But then the brothers heard a scratching sound from outside the house!

The Tonberries hadn't given up on trying to cut their way into the house of brick.

"Brothers, there is something we are neglecting," said the youngest brother, and he darted out the front door.

"We apologize!" he said to the Tonberries, bowing deeply to express his heartfelt sincerity.

---

And with that, the Tonberries smiled at each other...

...and then proceeded to stomp on the curly tail of the youngest brother, one by one.
