Okay now, where the hell do I put Spellbound?

EDIT

It will stay on the "Positive" tab until anyone replies.

Well, the "Reverse" status effect, which is also sort of a "neutral" status, is in the "negative" category. Perhaps a "Neutral" section could be created? I can't think of a better word to describe Reverse and Spellbound for now...

The status effects were classed based on the benefit or harm it brings to the character inflicted. Reverse was made negative since it changes the property of "healing" to "damaging", but it's also vice-versa. I support two ways, either is cool to me:

1. Put a neutral category, or
2. Erase the line between positive and negative entirely.

I'll add the Neutral Category. Fury (Status) will go in there too, as will Berserk, unless anyone objects.

So, as neutral we already have:

Any other? IMO, four links are more than enough to start a new tab...

EDIT

Imp from FFVI can also be used to power up the so treasured Imp Equipment, making your characters practically unstoppable, though I am not sure if that counts as a benefit good enough.

Spellbound sounds pretty positive to me. Fury is always positive. A slight loss of defense in exchange for ultra-fast Limit Breaks? It's a beaufitul thing. Sadness is always negative. Atheist can be pretty useful if you use it in the right situation.

Not that easy BH. Spellbound can be used to increase the time of effect of nasty statuses, like Poison, Disable and Charm...Such as Reverse can be easily used in your own profit, in order to evade very damaging blows. Fury is the same as Berserk, power boosts for defensive and dexterity cut, not to mention loss of control of the character in case of Berserk...seems kinda neutral to me. Faith can also be used for either boosting your own spells or increase the damage that the wearer recieves from them, so then it goes the same way as Atheist, but we can't put everything on Neutral now, can we? Poison-absobing characters can use poison to recieve a Regen effect...and we can go on and on while discussing this.

Reverse as negative statusEdit

Reverse is removed with Esuna and not with Dispel or both. Plus, the game's connotation of it is a negative status - listing Reverse in the Status menu with red font as oppose to blue for positive.

Alright, so here's a question for you all. Do we want the symbols for all of the statuses/elements from other games here as well, since I pretty much got all of the symbols from FFIV DS here? I could easily go and snag V, VI, VII, VIII, and IX if needed, though might take some time as I'd have to apply the statuses without killing myself D:

Stuff to Move/AddEdit

To-Do list for this thing:

  1. Move Burn (Chocobo Tales) to Burn (Status)
  2. Move status info from Aura (Ability) to Aura (Status)
  3. Move Stun to Stun (Ability) so that Stun (Status) and Stun (Element) can be made
  4. Move status info from Defend to Defend (Status)? This one is a tough one. It's the same with Jump as well as Hide...
  5. What to do with Barrier status? Sometimes it's different from Wall, Protect, and Shell...
  6. What to do with Null Physical and Null Magical? They ARE statuses, but name them as these, or...?
  7. I forget where Drain was a status in, so...yeah...
  8. In addition, what do we do with other statuses such as Egg, Charging, Twincast, and the like?
By Egg I assume you mean the "monster is a Mystery Egg" status used internally by FF4, yes? Well, Egg is actually a status in FFXI as well, so I'd suggest going ahead and making a page for it. Anyway I'd suggest making a separate section for the "preparatory" statuses like Charging, Twincast, etc; they're technically positive, but nobody says "OK, I have Haste, Protect, and Shell up now, so let's add Charging!" Or you could consider them negative since they slow you down--you have to wait for them to expire--but nobody ever says, "Oh no, I need to remove Charging right away!" Nothing guards against them, or dispels them, or anything like that, but they do exist as statuses, sometimes even have names and icons displayed to the user like other statuses, and highly technical game mechanic FAQs and the like deal with them on that basis.Hashmalum (talk) 02:54, February 20, 2013 (UTC)
