Hmm.... IMPO, what's supposedly better placed in this template are : Recurring Theme, OST Album, Theme Song and Artist divided between Composer and Singer.

Expansive template XD You have seen our game navitemps, didn't you? Well anyway, I don't have a problem with the "Other Track" section. Although they are best grouped according to when the music theme is used - i.e. character theme, overworld theme, boss theme.

What would "Theme song" be for?

EDIT - Oh, you mean Main Themes. Sure, no problem. I'll get on it now.

Eh, no, I mean "Theme Song", you know, the one sang by the singer, with the lyrics. I'll fix it up :)

I still oppose it. But if we're using it anyways, then at least remove the vagueness that the "Other Themes" section is.

I do agree that it is kinda vague. In fact, the entire music subject is a bit vague. You have character themes mixed with leitmotifs, then deciding if character themes should stick with playable ones, should all character themes be added, what about battle themes - and whatnot. Maybe we should cut down on our music articles as well ?

Ha ha ha. Very funny.

Yes we have character themes mixed with leitmotifs and stuff. I fail to see the mutual exclusiveness of these two traits.

On the other hand, why should we call things like the "Theme of Love" a character theme and not an event theme? Or perhaps we should call it an event theme and not a character theme? Let's call it both! And include it in both categories and list it twice! But that doesn't sound right... what should we do then?

Mhmm....and when you look at it... the individual game navitemps already have a "Music" section dedicated to it.

I need input: Consensus to Remove or Keep. Put it below:

  • Keep. What's better placed is just "Recurring Theme, OST Album, Theme Song and Artist divided between Composer and Singer" only. Bluer 06:18, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep. I know this thing is going to stick around whether I like it or not, so instead I say we keep it either as it is at the time of this vote or as Bluer says. Faethinverba volant 06:25, 18 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Comment I didn't know a single template would cause this much trouble. If you guys wanna delete it, go ahead. Drake Clawfang
  • Keep: I agree with Bluer. -- YuanSaluto!Acta 03:44, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep: My opinion on this subject is limited, but I believe that this will work well for the purpose of organizing this section. Whatever shape this Template ultimately takes can only help this wiki rather than hurt it. --BlueHighwind 03:48, 19 October 2008 (UTC)
  • Keep: I support the current format. Might as well fill it out :) 8bit 03:59, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] New Layout

I was experimenting with a new layout so that all the music articles could be added, but I'm not sure if it's working out or not. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but it would be a MASSIVE template. I would love some input on if you guys think I should bother to keep going or not. You're right in that it would be a huge template... I like the idea of listing the albums, though. Is there a reason why you chose to have the terms in the original soundtrack section side to the left of the template? Otherwise, if the album sections were allowed to take up the entire width of the template, I don't think it would be that big...
Or maybe a page could be created for each "type" of album, like you listed here? So for the "Piano Collections" series, Piano Collections could be made and list each release?
I think the only reason not to do this would be to say that the Music of Final Fantasy page already covers albums in a game-wise order rather than a "type"-wise order. 8bit 18:59, October 31, 2009 (UTC)
No real reason. I just thought i would be easier to read left to right. I don't think it would save room EITHER way.
Anyway, upon further thought, maybe they could be broken up into 3 separate templates. A song one, an album one, and a personnel one. The song one would just go on the song pages while the album one would just go on the album pages, with both templates linking to the personnel template at the bottom as an inclusion. -- Lycentia 10:56, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
[EDIT] Added the album links. It's huge even WITHOUT the song links >_< -- Lycentia 12:14, November 1, 2009 (UTC)
