Template talk:Jobs

From Final Fantasy Wiki

Are there any jobs that appear in Final Fantasy III, that are not recurring? Because currently there is a category for Final Fantasy III jobs, but none are listed. If not, I think that the Final Fantasy III container should be removed. --B 006 01:40, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I think they should. The only reason the FFI jobs category exists is because before I got here, there were several good articles written about them. Although several upgrades, such as Shaman and Conjurer, are strictly from FFIII. Crazyswordsman 01:53, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
Do you think we should merge all the various Job categories into one "master" category? In my opinion, this would be the best route. --B 006 02:09, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
The template is illogical. Either the "Recurring jobs"-part has to go, or the "duplicates" in some of the FF-parts, i.e. FFIII, have to go, regardles of them having their own articles. If they stay, they remove the entire point of having a "Recurring jobs"-part. --Hecko X 13:53, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
We could break it down by game and have a template for each game. But so far, only FFI and FFV are complete. Crazyswordsman 15:43, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
I've often thought of that, but I've been afraid that it would be over-doing it. If it isn't, then I second the suggestion. --Hecko X 20:12, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

Should we make own articles for the FFX-2 jobs, or just blend them into the job page (see Berserker)? --Auron Kaizer 12:20, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

Own articles (see Thief (Final Fantasy X-2)). They all have tables that would require far too much space on a joint page. I'm even thinking that the FFTA jobs should abide by this, but I don't know... --Hecko X 14:29, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
All should eventually hopefully have their own articles (on issues of fairness mostly). Crazyswordsman 14:46, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
When that happens, I'm going to cut down on the size of this rediculously large navibox. Crazyswordsman 16:35, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Collapsing

I tried to collapse this template, since I think it's long enough to warrant collapsing, but I don't know the exact coding. I thought it was in the Returners' Conclave somewhere or in the forums, but I couldn't find it. I tried to pick it out of the game templates that have been collapsed, but I couldn't tell the collapsing code from the rest of the template. Can someone who knows the code collapse this template? And that code should probably go into the templates markup page, yeah?

FFTA2 has basically got all the jobs from FFTA. This could create a problem for this template, since the FFTA part will just dissappear, unless there are no Runeseekers and Heremetics in FFTA2 (and so on). It means several new pages are going to have to be made, for like Fencer, even though it only appears in those two games. Templar wasn't a problem, since the PSP version of FFT made sure it appears outside the FFTA series. I'm just bringing this up now, hopefully FFTA can at least keep a job or two for itself.

Speaking of keeping jobs for itself, FFV has had another one of its Unique jobs stolen. Cannoneer is now recurring, thanks to FFTA2. Let's hope no Necromancers and Mystic Knights appear in future games.

All should eventually hopefully have their own articles (on issues of fairness mostly).

That was seven months ago. I jsut thought it was nice to reflect on, considering they now all do. :) Although I intend to completely rework the FFIII ones (hopefully this week).

Well, we could put the jobs that only reoccur in these 2 under the title "Final Fantasy Tactics Advance Series", then put the TA and TA2 exclusive ones after that.

Yeah, that could work. However, it appears one job has not made it back for the sequal, the Morpher. Understandable, I don't think anyone could ever use that job.

While capturing was annoying, the benefits were great. Flans can outdo Black Mages, Blaster from the couerl, Night from Lamias etc. etc.

Did this ever get resolved? I'm bumping TA+TA2 stuff up to recurring, and it can be reverted if necessary.

Eh, no. If they're recurring even within the Tactics series, they're still recurring in the whole series so they should go under the Recurring section. And each term, even if the spelling is slightly different, gets put in their individual game section.

[edit] Standards

Lanate - Break the earth and part the seas

I'm sort of confused. Why are Mog Knight and Moogle Knight not considered recurring, despite the fact that they're very obviously the same class? When I saw that, I came to the conclusion that it's because of the name. I mean, Mog Knight and Moogle Knight are two different names; what's to say that someone searching for one wouldn't find the other? Then, what does a person do when they're searching for Fusilier? Know that it's under Gunner and click appropriately? It seems less intuitive than Mog Knight = Moogle Knight. But that doesn't occur for Corsair, who appears as a Gambler but has its own link. I'm just slightly confused as to what the standards are for this thing. Can someone explain it to me?

The idea is to place Recurring terms under Recurring. If you see one out of sync, you may fix it.

Additionally; I removed the parent page as the two terms were different, even if in spirit they are the same - though in actuality they have slight differences. You can't put Mog Knight and Moogle Knight into a parent page and name the parent page as one or the other, too - a bit harder to decide which one gets tagged.. so they don't get disambigs.
