Template talk:Black Magic

From Final Fantasy Wiki

FF7 and FF8 do not have Black Magic, either of them. They have offensive magic, but it is not called "Black Magic". And even if we were to consider them Black Magic, "Cometeo" and "Quara" do not exist in FF7 - they are called Comet 2 and Demi 2. 64.228.216.113 06:16, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

If they are not Black Magic, then what are they? They certainly fit the bill of Black Magic, even though the term itself doesn't appear in game. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 06:21, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
I also VI's offensive magic is called Black Magic. ZEROX (C) 06:24, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
No it isn't, it is shown as a Black dot but is not called Black Magic. No one objected when I removed the FF7 section from the White Magic template, why is Black Magic exempt?
@DSS - what are they? Magic, no classification. FF6 and 8 have classifications separate from the normal hierarchy, and FF7 has no classification of its Magic at all. 64.228.216.113 06:25, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
VII does have classification it same as VI and VIII. ZEROX (C) 06:29, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
No it doesn't. FF7's magic system has Magic Materia classified into particular Materia shards, but not into Black/White/etc, magic. FF6 and FF8, as mentioned, also have separate classification systems. 64.228.216.113 06:31, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
They are classified. When you get the Master Magic Materia, it shown all the spells are classified. Attack, healing and support. They even have three ultimate spell for each group. Full-Cure the ultimate healing spell. Shield the ultimate support spell. And Ultima ultimate attack spell. So they are classified. ZEROX (C) 06:37, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Classified as you see them, you mean. I've played through FF7 a dozen times, and yet I don't ever recall seeing "Black Magic" anywhere. But, fine, whatever. My WikiBreak's half-done, leave it if it's so precious to you. I'll remove it when I get back. I should have just done it while logged in, we probably wouldn't even be talking about this... 64.228.216.113 06:39, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Isn't the point of being on a wiki-break not to edit, Drake? - +DeadlySlashSword+ 06:43, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, except I come around now and then still when I'm bored and have minor things to add. Like I said, if I'd bothered to log-in you guys probably wouldn't have batted an eye would you? I'm quite surprised as the reactions I'm getting while I'm editing as an anon. 64.228.216.113 06:44, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
As well, I didn't WikiBreak to edit, I WikiBreak'd to get away from my self-imposed responsibilities and duties. 64.228.216.113 06:45, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Wait a minute, that was Drake? I thought it was just a random anon that being a smart ass. I'm sorry if I cause any problems. ZEROX (C) 06:49, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, sucks how if I'd bothered to log-in my edits would magically become valid huh? You guys should investigate that, it'll give you something to talk to me about on the 24th. 64.228.216.113 06:51, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Before I go (and I am, I ain't gonna spend an hour on something this dumb), I've one more thing to show: User_talk:Bluerfn/Archive_VI#Tornado. 64.228.216.113 06:54, 15 August 2009 (UTC)

Well, I'm back, I'll just reiterate what I said before - FF6-8 don't have "White Magic" and "Black Magic". Their magic is divided differently, like "attack, healing, support" as was said above. But not White and Black. Drake Clawfang 01:10, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

What are we going to refer to them as, then? Attack Magic and Support Magic? I think it's very obvious that VI's spells are grouped into White/Black/Gray Magic; for VII and VIII you have a point. What category would Quara go into, then? Final Fantasy VII Magic? 8bit 02:36, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
Wait, dur. Quara has the basic "Magic" template, but has an additional Black Magic category. Maybe we could make a section on Template:Magic for spells that don't fit a specific genre of magic? Ones that appear even once as White/Black/Time/etc. magic, though, would still be on that respective template. 8bit 02:42, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
That would work. I just don't like seeing magic mislabeled. Drake Clawfang 03:09, 22 August 2009 (UTC)
