Agni has appeared in two of Square Enix's Luminous Engine tech demos.

There have been various technical demos released associated with the Final Fantasy series. A technology demonstration is a prototype or an otherwise incomplete version of a conceivable product or future system, put together as proof of concept with the purpose of showcasing the possible applications, feasibility, performance and method of an idea for a new technology.

Final Fantasy VI: The Interactive CG Game was a short demonstration produced by Square using characters and settings from Final Fantasy VI. Produced using new Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI) Onyx and Indy2 workstations, the 3D models were made in Alias|Poweranimator and Animated in Softimage|3d. The demo was Square's first foray into realtime 3D graphics and much of the technology demonstrated in the demo was later put to use in the rendering of full motion video sequences for Final Fantasy VII and subsequent games for the PlayStation.

Final Fantasy VIII technical demo[]

The Final Fantasy VIII technical demo is a remake of the ballroom dance scene from Final Fantasy VIII for the PlayStation 2. It was released in 1999. The sequence appears just as it did in the game, except with no visible polygons or slowdown. The tech demo is showcasing what the game could have looked like if it were remade for the PlayStation 2.

The Final Fantasy VII Technical Demo was a remake of the original Final Fantasy VII opening, showcasing the graphical capabilities of the Sony PlayStation 3, unveiled in E3 2005. The demo was made by the team who went on to develop Final Fantasy XIII, with Motomu Toriyama as the director.

Agni's Philosophy is a tech demo revealed in E3 2012 showing what a future Final Fantasy game might look like using Square Enix's Luminous Engine game production environment, developed for creating games for eight generation games consoles. Everything in the video runs in real-time with an established stream of cinematic content where the viewpoint can be changed while in action. The video depicts real time computer graphics at the same level as pre-rendered computer graphics and the fine details of the characters are showcased through their facial expressions, subtleties of their pupils and hair, and their flowing garments.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Official Benchmark (Character Creation)[]

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Official Benchmark (Character Creation) is an official benchmark for the PC version of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, released on August 1, 2013. The demo of the character creation mode is included in the benchmark. On April 27th, 2015, a newer benchmark program was released, featuring content from the first expansion, Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward.

WITCH - Chapter 0 [cry][]

WITCH - Chapter 0 [cry] is a tech demo revealed at 2015 Microsoft BUILD event, showing how the future video games will look like on DirectX 12. The tech demo runs on Microsoft Windows 10 with the combined power of four nVidia Titan X (GTX) graphics cards.

The Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward Official Benchmark is an official benchmark for the PC version of Final Fantasy XIV, released on April 27, 2015, that features content from Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward, and features as DirectX 11 support and an updated benchmark algorithm.
