[edit] Naginata vs polearms

When I said it was like comparing a sword to an axe, I weren't kidding. Most polearms have "blades" similar to those of axes or spears (sometimes both, i.e. the halbard). The closest a polearm comes to a naginata, are the voulge and the glaive (and how many knows them?). The only thing that seperate the naginata from those two, is that the naginata has a tang (a thing that connects the blade of a sword to its hilt), whereas the two others are affixed to the pole like axes. Besides, if naginata is the actual name of that type of weapon, then why change it? It's like changing the Katana (for the samurai-class) into a Spatha, it makes no sense. --Hecko X 17:40, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

I've heard in official media that it's a polearm. Crazyswordsman 17:44, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
And I've read about polearms, so I know it's not a polearm. Like I said, it's a double-bladed (or double-sided) naginata, and they aren't polearms. This might be a stretch, but have you ever played Onimusha 2? If you have, do you remember the weapon that could create a small tornado? That's a double-bladed Naginata. And the spear and warhammer he (Juubei) had? They are polearms. --Hecko X 18:02, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
You could technically call them "Swallows." Have you ever played Chrono Cross? --Crazyswordsman 22:42, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
In FFIX I think they are refered to as "Thief Swords". Whether that is the proper terms for them or not, I don't know. But as EA sports says, "If its in the game, its in the game". Thom32 21:14, 5th March 2007 (GMT)
They are. SilverDragon28 18:26, 4 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Love

I don't understand why someone reverted that Zidane loves Garnet back to "has feelings for". It even says that on Eiko's page and I quote "She falls in love with Zidane Tribal over the course of the journey, and even goes as far as to write a love letter to him, but snaps out of it after a while, seeing that Zidane is in love with Princess Garnet." So can we leave that as it is? - Eileen-

I agree. Since when does Zidane not love Garnet? --Crazyswordsman 22:38, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Agreed.--Goldberry2000 22:56, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Quoted dialog to back it up:
Steiner: "Red Rose!? Could it be...Beatrix!?"
Zidane: "Quite a woman, you fell in love with!"
Steiner: "You're one to talk!"
Dagger: "Wait a minute, Steiner! What did you mean by that!?"
Zidane: "...Alright! Let's bust through!"

[edit] Story

Netherith - UBOAR!!:
TALK - 23:57, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Had to go through the game in order to fill out the story section and I must say. The story is very fulfilling. Like a combination of FFVII's epic story and FFVIII's love story, plus the war friggin rocked. Kuja is now in my fav villian list.

Wasn't this article featured last year or the one before it?

Nope. Check the archives if you want to be sure.

[edit] Dissidia Seiyuu

Schala-Kitty - If one link is missing, there will be no future
TALK - {{{time}}}
I'm seeing conflicting information about who will be playing him in Dissidia. My source, an interview transcribed at FF7AC Reunion, lists Paku Romi as his seiyuu. Does anyone have the source that states that he will be played by Junko Takeuchi so I can double-check?

According to this guy on NeoGAF:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=11622701&postcount=118 The latest issue of Famitsu seems to confirm his VA as Romi Paku. I believe a popular LJ user who goes to SE events and gives people updates on the latest trailers and such said they believed Zidane's voice actor sounded like Junko Takeuchi, the voice actor for Naruto. After that is just kinda spread and people I guess took it as a fact.

I figured that it was something like that. Well, if this seems to be the case, then I will update the article accordingly.

What was Grand Lethal's name in the Japanese version? Omnislash got heavily renamed, so perhaps GL was originally RG..? Just curious, mostly, though it could smoothen his Dissidia section.

[edit] Trance?

TALK - Judge Bergan, FFXII {{{time}}}
For some reason, when you view the page, Zidane's Trance comes up as Theif. But when you edit the page, the table is blatantly filled in as Dyne. Thing is, I'm not really sure what's gone wrong. Just wanted to bring it to someone's attention.

Bluer's fault, he messed up the character template. Should work now. Drake Clawfang 19:03, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

Before you make accusations, Drake, you should go check the template's history. —BLUER一番 19:30, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Apologies, I just figured it was you since you've been enhancing the character temps lately. Drake Clawfang 19:36, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Short swords?

Lolcakes - I'm never gonna dance again.. Guilty feet have got no rhythm.
TALK - 11:20, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
How come it says in Zidane's character box that he can use short swords? Can he really use them? XD

[edit] Zidane or Zidaine?

On the official Dissidia site, they call Zidane "Zidaine". Just got curious while browsing through the heroes. /Sachy

I am guessing it is just a typo. They spell it "Zidane" in his paragraph.--Oranejo 17:27, 3 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Zidane=Goku?

Terderrer - Come to my hands sacred light and profane darkness! Be fused and unlock an ultimate power!
TALK - 23 September 2009 {{{time}}}
Is it me or does Zidane have similar traits to Goku from Dragonball Z. Look at the simularities:
  • monkey tail
  • found in a forest by an older father figure
  • trained by that father figure
  • had to fight their father figure
  • able to transform into a more simian appearance
  • Sent to a planet uncondentionally as babies with out remembering their prior objectives
  • have older "brothers" who remind them of their prior objectives and try to kill them
  • fell in love with a princess
  • had to fight that princesses parent figure
  • created to destroy/take over planets

I wonder if im the first one to notice this?.

You pretty much nailed it on the head, there. - Lost Hero

Gustav Margriff - Hell yeah! Final Fantasy the best game ever!
TALK - {{{time}}}
I was just about to ask if he was a Saiyan. LMAO!

"His only constant is his unpredictabilty." -Amarant Coral's thoughts about Zidane.

I was playing through IX again and this quote got stuck in my mind. I think it's probably the best way to explain him really. BlankTH 08:15, October 30, 2009 (UTC)
