When was this called World B? I know World A was identified as the FF1 world, but the DFF/D012 world never got explicitly named to my knowledge.
then you never read the reports. All the later ones specifically identify the world of Dissidia as World B.
I haven't been able to get all of the reports yet, sadly. Only 1-8 and then the last three or four. I'll take your word for it though.
Yeah, at the top of each report it reads World A or World B, and a couple are "World A/B". The content of each report makes it clear World A refers to FF1 world, and World B refers to the Rift where the Dissidia world lies.
Okay, perhaps someone can explain this a bit better... I thought the Rift led to the world of the Manikins, but then Cid says the Rift will take people home, then Gilgamesh gets sent to the Rift (while fighting in the Rift stage), yet the Reports also indicate that the initial Rift is what led to World B to begin with.. how the heck many Rifts are there? To my best understanding there's the one in Onrac in World A, leading to either the Manikin world or World B... then there's Exdeath/Gil's Rift, which is entirely separate? But then Shinryu was traveling through Exdeath's Rift, I thought... and now I'm just confused here. Maybe once I read the other reports it'll add up better, but if I'm already confused only halfway through, that's not a promising sign.
the Rift is immense. They're all the same. You could consider the world of Dissidia something like a pocket world that lies within the Rift.
Think of the Rift as the main hub and all the other worlds are spokes connected to it. World B may just be another spoke, or possibly a screw on the hub.
Bottom line, there's only one Rift, which is also called the Void, the term is used interchangeably to refer to the same place, more or less. And through this Rift other worlds can be found and traveled to, ala Gilgamesh.
EDIT - Now, the Rift the arena and the Rift, the dimension, good question. Could be the arena is, as Jim said of World B, a pocket dimension in a much larger, all-encompassing "Rift".
Okay, I think I got it now. So the Manikin crystals were found in either the Rift or in World B, then disposed of through a door to the Rift... which the 012 warriors then closed, sealing the only way out until 013/000? How did they get out in 013 though, yet remained in the world for 000/020? Sorry to ask so many questions :D I just really like the plot's potential, but find the details a little confusing for some reason. And was the Nightmare World of 000 the same as World B? That's how I interpreted it at first, with World A being both FF1 and Dissidia, but then they make it sound like Cid was banished from World B to NW...
I think the nightmare world was merely a hallucination. That, or just yet another alternate world in addition to Worlds A and B. Anyway, the Manikins were disposed of into the Rift itself, which is why - in World B - they enter the world through a portal to the Rift. They got into the world in the 12th cycle when the Warriors of Chaos found the portal and opened it to use them as soldiers. The Manikins found in the 13th cycle are likely just leftovers from the massive force that came through in the 12th. Cosmos' Holy Hand Grenade was strong enough to save the Warrior, but I doubt it wiped out every Manikin in the world.
Now, how the Warriors of Chaos took control of them, no idea.
