THANK YOU SQUARE-ENIX FOR FINALLY LISTENING TO COMMON SENSE. How could they have possibly have left XI unrepresented from Dissidia? Just because it's one of the least liked games in the series...but whatever. All we need now are some XII characters...

Ashe and Fran would be cool. But then we'd need more villians...probably Vayne.

Yes...Vayne would be the most likely cantidate for XII's villian, should they include XII, but for XI, I'm just not sure. Maybe the Shadow Lord?

I'm going to remove the whole content copied here from FFXIClopedia unless someone makes an effort in actually writing about her role in XI. It's best if we write content from scratch, editors!

why would you do somehting like that?!

i worked hard to make that look nice, and i provided a link to the origonal page if people wanted to go there

XP

your just being mean and rude

Meh, considering that we've been working hard writing and maintaining this wiki for four years, writing our own content as much as possible - I'm hardly calling it being "mean and rude". It's more like maintaining our work quality. Bluer 14:38, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Are implying that XIclopedia has bad standards? Ultima The High Seraph

Look, what I'm urging is that people write articles from the ground up, okay? Sheesh! Bluer 15:48, 25 November 2008 (UTC)
EDIT COnflict: I believe what bluer-san want to say is "your own writing will be much more appraciated than the writing that you copied from other website". It's not that XIclopedia has bad standards or what... - SilverSummoner 15:49, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, for one thing... I prefer our FFXI article, esp characters, to be more story-based than technical-based. For example, this article: so what if she's in such and such missions? Whats the story behind her....that's more important IMHO.

[edit] Interview

I am not to sure but should the interview be here? Ultima The High Seraph

I don't think it should. It streches out the page. —BfD (talk·contribs) Confirm deletion|23:12, 26 November 2008 (UTC)

It's Official though. Maybe somebody should cut up the interview and put it together as an article with the important facts and information about her from it.

Anybody offering to do it?Ultima The High Seraph

[edit] Magic Burst & Skillchain

Not to burst anyone's bubble, but Magic Bursts and Skillchains are two different things in FFXI. Whoever wrote that must've misunderstood something. The powerful melee attacks in FFXI are called Weapon Skills. If certain Weapon Skills are used in combination, it creates a Skillchain. A Skillchain does elemental damage depending on the Weapon Skills used, and this causes the enemy to "resonate" with that/those element/s for a few seconds. In that small window, any magical attack done to the enemy that correlates to that/those element/s will cause a Magic Burst - increasing the damage of the spell. ... For them to make Shantotto's Ex Burst "Magic Burst"...and have it be a Skillchain...doesn't make any sense. More than likely, what she does is somehow create a Skillchain and then Magic Burst it.

[edit] Lady Shantotto's Weapon(s)

I respect the idea that, because she does have a staff weapon mounted on her back that the idea of her using physical attacks is still a possibility. However, it should be worth taking a second look at three of the images of Lady Shantotto on the official Dissidia web site, namely the ones where it shows her casting Stonega on Zidane, Aeroga on Exdeath, and while she is performing her Ex-Burst: Magic Burst. If you look at the jewel at the top of the staff, it changes for each scene. When fighting Zidane with Stonega, the jewel is a bit of an amber color. When fighting Exdeath, the jewel is a green color. When performing her Ex-Burst, the jewel is black.

Final Fantasy XI has a series of eight, nearly identical weapons known collectively as the Elemental Staffs (this applies to both their Normal-quality and High-quality variants). Most, if not all, Black Mages have a complete set of Elemental Staffs, as each one boosts the power of spells of their respective element by 10-15%, depending on the quality of the weapon. For example, casting Fire with the Fire Staff would boost Fire's potency by 10%, and by 15% if using the Vulcan's Staff. (The staff must be equipped at the time of the casting of the spell in order to receive the potency boost.)

I think it would be worth assuming that Shantotto may not fight with these staffs, as they all have relatively poor combat stats, but instead constantly switch them out to boost the power of her spells.

Following this logic, it would seem a little trivial to have Lady Shantotto use a Dark/Pluto's Staff when performing her Ex-Burst, as the Black Mage job class does not possess any real high-damage Dark Magic spells. Actually seeing Shantotto's Ex-burst performed might give some insight as to why this staff is chosen, rather then any other.

[edit] Infobox

Yuan 翠珊A Poem for a Day — 02:19, 22 December 2008 (UTC)

"The dimension of time has been shattered, we cannot love or think except in fragments of time"

Shantotto's Dissidia infobox is in the Dissidia section, rather than at the top of the page like the other Dissidia villains. Personally, I think the infobox looks better there and makes more logical sense (although I am aware that consensus has been reached about the placement). Should the infobox me moved to the top, or all the villain infoboxes moved to the Dissidia section?
Leon5550 - You tried to kill a man and then calls him "monster"? Such crude behavior!
TALK - {{{time}}}
Second Yuan here. Those guys represent their game, not some spinoff. And it's also gonna confuse people because they'll think that the villain's playable in his game.

The infobox is clearly of Dissidia, since it uses a Dissidia picture and the Dissidia colors. If people are still confused somehow, then they can't be too bright. Probably mentioning that the character is only playable in Dissidia right in the opening paragraphs makes more sense.

The reason I oppose putting the infobox down in the Dissidia section is because that would mean that character's who already have infoboxes would wind up getting two. One infobox per page makes the most sense.

TALK - {{{time}}}
Well, there's a lot of idiots around here. It's still just dont feel right. If there should be an infobox then it should be about their game, not Dissidia. If you're gonna put a Dissidia infobox then put it on the good guys too, but that'll make 2 infoboxes. So the only solution I can think of is to make a Dissidia character article, covering the character's story in Dissidia, moves, jobs, etc...
AndresTiger - Derp Derp Derp Derp
TALK - {{{time}}}
Feels a little less organized this way having some Dissidia characters with Dissidia info boxes and others without em. Also IMO I think it's better to have the top information about the characters original appearance and original look, not information from a spin-off game that isn't even tired into their main-canon.
BlueHighwind Q?
TALK - I Am Vengeance. I Am the Knight. I Am Batman! :
EDIT CONFLICT: She's not playable in FFXI. I don't see how this is such a problem, as there have been plenty of characters who are not playable in their first game and then playable later. I suppose Zack Fair should get a FFVII infobox. And Luca should get a FFIV one. No, that's a bad idea because they're not playable in those games. I'm simply following precident here.

Making more than one article is a silly idea, I've said so on my occasions and will continue to when prompted.

EDIT: I'm not getting involved in any discussion of what games are "canon" and which are not. That's the path of meaningless opinion debate.

What debate? The director himself said Dissidia story is not directly related to the other FF worlds:

TA: " Dissidia: Final Fantasy"'s story is not directly linked to the "FF" stories these characters come from. However, we have designed it so that, as you get closer to the game's ending, there will be some kind of link you can see relating to each one of them. Also, although this is a different world and story, the characters will keep their recognisable personalities so fans can rest assured. (Laughs)

Regardless, what we should emphasize is the character's original appearance. And what I feel is that the Dissidia infobox is unneeded... Much of the info is already in the prose.
