[edit] Deepground SOLDIER vs. Deepground Soldier
I'm the one who made the edit. The official sources I could find didn't capitalize the soldier in 'Deepground Soldier', so I changed it.
- Actually no, you're wrong. SOLDIER is capitalized in all official sources, like the FFVII 10th Anniversary Ultimania. It's the same as SOLDIER and is in katakana, thus capitalized.74.192.123.186 22:25, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Makoeyes
- In-game, I don't think it is capitalized (I think the game supersedes materials around it personally). More importantly, that title isn't even that often used. More often its merely "Deepground". --BlueHighwind ツ 22:30, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- The US version of games are known to have translation errors, such as Crisis Core referring to Cloud's mako poisoned states as "Mako Addiction." While DC refers to the soldiers sans capital letters, they are clearly meant to be a division of SOLDIER and thus have the SOLDIER label. All Japanese references explicitly refer to them as SOLDIER.74.192.123.186 22:56, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Makoeyes
- We're an English wiki. How they do things is what wins. --BlueHighwind ツ 23:07, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- Well, I understand english localization wins out over Japanese, but when the information is downright contradictory and inaccurate, I would think that for the sake of consistency and correct information you'd go with the facts, regardless of if its Japanese or English. The english translation of FFVII calls the Cetra space nomads, but we of course know that is wrong thanks to the information from the original *Japanese* translation. Just because its English doesn't mean its always right or should always be touted as the fact, even in an English wikia that's supposed disseminate the facts.74.192.123.186 23:37, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Makoeyes

No, I meant that the plot of the game states that the Cetra went from planet to planet, cultivating them and that they weren't just nomads who went from location to location on the planet of FFVII, but that they LITERALLY went from planet to planet.74.192.123.186 23:42, 9 March 2009 (UTC)Makoeyes
- I'd prefer consistancy frankly. Diablocon 23:45, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- As would I. Just call them "Deepground", that's their truest name. --BlueHighwind ツ 23:45, 9 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Jenova Cells?
I'm not an expert, but I don't think SOLDIER's were injected with Jenova Cells, they only had Mako Energy. Cloud wasn't actually a SOLDIER, he got the typical SOLDIER glow because he was a Sephiroth clone.

[edit] Uniforms in Crisis Core
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
What i got out of CC was this:
- 3rd Class = Blue
- 2nd Class = Purple
- 1st Class = Black
But the higher ranked firsts can wear whatever...like Sephiroth and Genesis...Angeal could do that as well but he still wore the correct uniform because his character pertains order.

Where does it show, other than the crappy, cut and paste graphics of the gameplay models/renders, that 1st Classes wear black? In the fully rendered CG scenes Angeal and Zack both wear blue sweaters, though the pants either look dark grey or grayish-blue depending on the shot. Anyone have fully rendered CG shots of the black sweater?

I know there's some debate about this, and I'd just like some clarification.
Ordinary SOLDIER members (like Zack before his run-in with Hojo-jojo) are created by exposure to Mako radiation. The more powerful SOLDIER members like Angeal, Genesis, and HE-WHOSE-NAME-MUST-NOT-BE-SPOKEN-BY-MERE-MORTALS-ON-PAIN-OF-DEATH-BY-MASAMUNE, as well as Zack & Cloud after Nibelheim are made by adding JENOVA cells. There were two projects responsible for the Super-SOLDIERS, Project G(led by Dr.Hollander)which produced Angeal (success) and Genesis (failure), and Project S(led by Hojo), which created HE-WHOSE-NAME-MUST-NOT-BE-SPOKEN-BY-MERE-MORTALS-ON-PAIN-OF-DEATH-BY-MASAMUNE (mostly success). People who've been injected with JENOVA cells without the Mako on top turn into Se... Clones of H-W-N-M-N-B-S-B-M-M-O-P-O-D-B-M.
Am I right, or do I need to write an even lengthier post?

Actually that last post should have gone under JENOVA Cells. Sorry. And out of interest, how do you creat those talk bubbles?

EDIT CONFLICT: on the above note. Go to the rins travel agency in the forums and see the sephiroth clone process and look at my massive speech. 1stclasswarrior 15:34, 29 January 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Blue Glow
I changed the phrase saying that SOLDIERs have a "sky blue" glow in their eyes to just a "glow". Since the games only ever mention a mako glow, not that it's specifically blue. Cloud and co. just happen to have natural blue eyes, which get an additional glow. Mako doesn't change your eye color (and if it did, wouldn't it be green?) 88.78.25.225 09:46, 16 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Cloud's Eye Glow
With regards to the information listed about Cloud having become "1st Class" and subsequently acquiring the traditional glowing eyes usually attributed to SOLDIER:
I was under the impression that Cloud's eyes actually resulted from the (heavy) mako poisoning he received at the hands of Hojo during the four years he was detained after Sephiroth's disappearance. Cloud never entered SOLDIER, and I don't think the Shinra grunts were ever divided into separate classes of their own. Is there any cited information that I don't know about, or something?
The text in question can be found under the title "The Fall of SOLDIER ".
Thanks,

Thanks for the response. I've added two words that might clarify the meaning of the sentence; hope no one minds. He didn't "become strong enough in Final Fantasy VII to be a 1st class member" - he became strong enough to be "mistaken as a 1st class member". Sephirona 17:30, September 6, 2009 (UTC)
