Burning Griever

Definitely Nemesis, YMMV as to the status of Ultima Buster and maybe even Neslug, I wouldn't think any of the rest come close enough to meet that definition. "Superboss" is somewhat subjective, don't forget, though. HayanNinja (talk) 03:30, April 25, 2014 (UTC)

Question[]

Does equiping a Doll with Capture ability make your magic capture the monster, or do i have to physically attack them with Lulu's doll? SΓΣamyGoreng 01:11, November 4, 2011 (UTC)

You will have to physically attack them with Lulu's doll.Keltainentoukokuu 01:13, November 4, 2011 (UTC)

Sword[]

So... The sword at the entrance belongs to the gemini monster... Right??--Mrmike336 (talk) 22:26, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, that's one of the Gemini swords --Pzykosiz (talk) 07:19, January 6, 2013 (UTC)

Some notes on equipment drops[]

Something this wiki misses mentioning is that a lot of the monster arena drops are semi-fixed. You might've noticed how I modified Fenrir's page yesterday; previously it just said it drops abilities "including" blahblah, but I modified it to say that it drops equipment with Deathstrike/Deathproof and 1-3 other abilities - this is because Deathstrike / Deathproof (for armor/weapon specifically) ALWAYS appear on Fenrir's drops.

Here's the info on ones that have these kind of properties. Note that in a lot of cases, just because the enemy *can* drop nothing but the one fixed ability doesn't mean you're ever going to see it happen; for example, the chance of Stratoavis dropping equipment with *nothing* except the fixed ability is around 1 in 47,000. (However, the chance of him dropping equipment *without* the fixed ability is literally zero, of course.)

All I've done is listed the fixed abilities; I take it the editors here should be able to tell which is weapon and which is armor. Just because an enemy has a fixed ability for weapon doesn't mean they also do for armor, or vice versa. Finally, some monsters drop equipment that provides a 6% critical hit chance bonus instead of 3% (this is relevant to weapons AND armors, but only to attacks that deal physical damage), I've also noted this where relevant. (Worth noting: *all* Dark Aeon equipment drops also have this 6% bonus, while drops from Penance have a bonus of 10%. Celestial weapons, however, only have the normal 3%.)

I also haven't mentioned "de facto" fixed drops. In cases where an enemy only *has* one ability for a specific equipment type (armor/weapon), obviously they will always drop that ability. However, I'm only listing here the ones that are, in the data, explicitly fixed - not ones (such as Nemesis dropping Break Damage Limit) that simply always occur because it's the only option.

  • Stratoavis: Magic+20%, HP+30%.
  • Malboro Menace: Poisonstrike, Poisonproof. Crit bonus 6%.
  • Kottos: Counterattack, HP+30%. Due to Counterattack *always* being present on weapons, and it and E&C never appearing on the same drop, Kottos never actually drops Evade & Counter even though in the data it's in the list of things he can drop.
  • Couerlregina: Deathproof.
  • Jormungand: Stonestrike, Stoneproof. Crit bonus 6%.
  • Cactuar King: Strength+20%, Defence+20%.
  • Espada: Strength+20%, Defence+20%.
  • Abyss Worm: Strength+20%, Defence+20%.
  • Chimerageist: None.
  • Don Tonberry: Deathstrike, Deathproof. Crit bonus 6%.
  • Catoblepas: Deathstrike, Deathproof. Crit bonus 6%.
  • Abaddon: Magic+20%, Magic Defence+20%.
  • Vorban: Strength+20%, Defence+20%.
  • Fenrir: Deathstrike, Deathproof. Crit bonus 6%.
  • Ornitholestes: Defence+20%.
  • Pteryx: Strength+20%, Defence+20%.
  • Hornet: Strength+20%, Defence+20%.
  • Vidatu: MP+30%.
  • One-Eye: MP+30%.
  • Jumbo Flan: None.
  • Nega Elemental: Thunderstrike, Thunder Eater.
  • Tanket: Strength+20%, Defence+20%.
  • Fafnir: Thunderstrike.
  • Sleep Sprout: Sleepstrike, Sleepproof. Crit bonus 6%.
  • Bomb King: Strength+20%, Defence+20%.
  • Juggernaut: Strength+20%, Defence+20%.
  • Ironclad: Strength+20%, HP+30%.

For the original creations, the only fixed drops are HP+30% from both Th'uban and Neslug. All Original Creations have the 6% critical hit bonus, EXCEPT for Neslug who has the normal 3%.

Another interesting fact; I would be surprised if you don't already have the data correct, but you might not have noticed it to add as a trivia point: Espada and Neslug are the only arena creations immune to doom. Coincidentally (or maybe intentionally), they are also the only two arena creations with a zanmato level of 4; the others all have a zanmato level of 5. As you can see from above, Neslug also breaks the pattern of Original Creations having the 6% crit bonus on their equipment drops.

I have heard (from the author of the UCG, so this isn't some random shady forum post I'm reporting from here) that Neslug's data in the game is actually not located in the same place as the other Original creations, but rather, is actually near the fiends/bosses around Operation Mi'ihen, which may suggest Neslug (obviously in a less powerful form) was originally intended to be a boss (or perhaps even a random encounter) in this area.

EDIT: A correction to the above, Neslug also has Piercing as a fixed drop on weapons, but ONLY for Auron and Kimahri. (He will NEVER drop it for anyone else.)

HayanNinja (talk) 03:28, April 25, 2014 (UTC)

Just thought I'd add, to save anyone repeatedly checking back here - a quick way to remember who has the 6% crit drops is that it's all the creations whose drops consist solely of statusstrikes/statusproofs with one status having fixed drop status, as well as all original creations except for Neslug.

I'm going to look through the UCG to see if I can find any other cases of non-3% drops. I'll probably add the note to the equipment drops talk page though. HayanNinja (talk) 04:07, April 28, 2014 (UTC)

Trema[]

Trema's page seems to indicate that he did not take over the Monster Arena until some time after Sin was defeated. Shouldn't the lead say "during x-2"?(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ (ಠ_ೃ)Bully! 04:52, February 29, 2016 (UTC)

Prices?[]

ACRudeBox

I don't think we have the prices anywhere and yes I think they should be added if we can find them anywhere. Maybe it's not so noted because money is fairly inconsequential by the point you start doing the arena.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:21, February 24, 2017 (UTC)

Well, for customisation you have to do a lot of bribing. The Monster Arena has a few easy farming methods, and the prices are relatively low though so it's not a real issue (Fenrir was 8000, but it didn't actually use any money to fight him). JBed (talk) 22:01, February 24, 2017 (UTC)
