Irvine Card[]

It is a widely known fact that the character cards are generally held by people with strong personal ties to the character in question, namely:
So... why does Flo have Irvine's card? For that matter, why does Cid have Seifer's, though that's not directly relevant to this article of course. Are we meant to infer a connection between Dobe/Flo and Irvine? Of course, the carriers of the Kiros and Ward card don't have obvious relevance to Kiros and Ward, but I still think this is a line of thought worth looking into at least speculatively...

I suppose your counterpoints disproved your own argument then.

No more so than the hypothesis that they are held by completely unrelated characters is disproven by the counterpoints in the form of the Laguna, Squall, Selphie, Rinoa, Zell, Edea and Quistis cards. My point is that the list in support of relevance is rather longer than that for nonrelevance. Your token attempt to turn any argument onto itself is noted and appreciated, BH : )

Well, no. I wasn't making a hypothesis all. Saying that all cards are held by unrelated characters clearly goes against the evidence stated, and would be foolish. Rather, I was saying that your hypothesis is disproven by your own counterpoints. If a pattern was attempted, it clearly was not done for all the characters. Hunting for it would probably turn up little more than speculation (like that BS that Seifer is Cid's son).

I never said you made a hypothesis. "The hypothesis" I mentioned is from a similarly hypothetical hypothesiser, i.e. it isn't attributed to anyone in particular, it's just a hypothesis that could be made. Saying all are unrelated is foolish, which was my point exactly. My counterpoints do not disprove my hypothesis, as we have no evidence that they are indeed unrelated, HOWEVER they are nonetheless quite strong arguments against. In fact, they aren't even counterpoints. A true counterpoint would be one that definitely had no relevance, whereas the Kiros and Ward cards merely have no apparent relevance. Anyway, there is at least a loose connection between Ward and Odine; it's only really Kiros where the holder seems to be a complete nonentity. Furthermore, did I ever actually say that the hypothesis that all are relevant is my view? No, because it isn't. I merely pointed out that one could infer certain points from what we do know.
To clear up this once and for all, let me state it plainly: I do not believe that Seifer is Cid's son, nor that there is any direct connection between Flo and Irvine. I do agree that this is no more than flimsy speculation. I believe that a little speculation is something to be welcomed, as it can encourage a certain level of open-mindedness. Speculation, like all things, should be treated as exactly what it is: mere possibilities that could emerge from a given set of details but probably don't actually hold any importance or relevance (except in those cases where it turns out to be right :P). Hope that clears up any confusion about my thoughts on this entirely speculative matter!
A bit late to the party, but I think Cid's having the Seifer card makes sense. Cid states that he basically cant see people he cares about hurting each other. He knew how things would go with Edea, But Seifer betrayed Garden, became the sorceress's guardian, and was in active command attacking Balamb. Seifer is very much relevant to Cid. Theres more (like being one of the few potential Gunblade specialists..) Anyway. Just my two cents on the issue. 74.132.249.206 10:45, March 24, 2012 (UTC)
Irvine and Kiros' cards are obtained through the Queen of Cards sidequests. It's notable and obvious that all cards obtained here have no relation whatsoever with the area and/or character they're obtained from. - Henryacores^ 00:07, March 25, 2012 (UTC)
