"The box is eventually going to include Malboros from ALL games"[]

I fail to see the point of deleting what I wrote. Eventually means "not right now", and the information was valid. So until more are added, I see no reason for the information to not be there. Furthermore, if you going to include all the Malboros, you should make a seperate section called "pictures" with a thumb for each picture, describing what game it's from, instead of putting them all in one box, making each picture to small to actually view and at the same time disturbing readability, by having it push the text around. Anyway, that's my thoughts on the subject. --Hecko X 22:45, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Well you could put the cursor over the pics and it will tell you what game it's from. Crazyswordsman 23:08, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
The tumbed pictures are better for the following reasons:
  • Allows a bigger picture, where you can actually see more than an outline, unless your sitting so close to the monitor, that your nose actually touches the screen
  • The pictures will look more organized, instead of some random collage.
  • Allows greater readability, because think about it, 10 (or more) pictures, crammed into a single box, with text next to it. Inevitably, it's gonna mess everything up.
  • Allows the viewer to see what game it's from, without having to hover over the picture (and viewers may or may not even be aware that they can see the game name by doing this)
  • Allows the viewer to jump to the game-page (or preferably, the specific monster-info page) directly by clicking the link, without having to either write it themselves (and having to write "Malboro (Final Fantasy Tactics Advance)" isn't really something people want to do too often) or by clicking the picture and then finding the proper link on the picture info page
The thumbed pictures are not good for the following reasons:
  • Requires approx 10 seconds more work per picture, because you have to write a description and a link, but you'll get 90% more interested viewers, because of easy accessibilty to articles. That's the closest you'll get to a "not good"-reason. --Hecko X 23:55, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
You want to make a gallery? Go ahead. Crazyswordsman 23:57, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

Mobol[]

So I didn't know it was call a Mobol in FFIV, sorry, no need to get harsh about it, geez. The article didn't say anything about it, I haven't played the game and hell, even your beloved ffcompendium calls it Malboro in stead of Mobol (and I have to get up in 3 hours for school, so I'm to freaking tired to start searching for if the name is correct or not). --Hecko X 00:58, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

Sorry. It's just that the MOBOL is something near and dear to my heart. Crazyswordsman 01:19, 20 September 2006 (UTC)

FFXI Morbols[]

I understand the intent of whoever decided to make all of the different version of Morbols their own; however, considering that this is an imcomplete list only containing the most commonly encountered Morbols and that the statistics of monsters are hidden in Final Fantasy XI, there is really little point to making a page for every type of Morbol. FFXIclopedia can do it, but thats only because they are concerned about loot (the individual pages list nothing in terms of statistics) and I do not think it would be worth our time or effort to make a page or pages for the thousands of creatures and tens of thousands of Final Fantasy items/weapons/armor. --TacticAngel

Well, try to find Morbol stats. If you can't, then have the Morbol redirect here and put your whole long speil about it here. However if it seems lengthy, I WILL put it into its own article. Crazyswordsman 01:59, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
What I mean to say is that I will be creating a family group for it like Goblin (Final Fantasy XI); however, I do not want to have to make a page for Ameretat, Greater Ameretat etc since the only real different between all marbols are strength, HP, location and whether or not they steal status effects or not. This is the same as how I have not made a page for "Goblin Ambusher" which is a specific type of goblin ranger type between the levels of 18 and 30 found in a half a dozen zones and having greatly differing strength and HP totals, neither of which are known... basically, until we know these things, there's no point in making individual pages like all the other known FF enemy types. --TacticAngel
Do whatever you have to do for FFXI. I'm not familiar with it because it's an MMORPG. And the only thing I KNOW I can do what I do for is FFVI, as the other games haven't been broken down and put back together the way FFVI was, not even Chrono Trigger. Crazyswordsman 03:05, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
I'm not familiar with FFXI either, but as far as I can understand, FFXI Malboros, Ameretat, Greater Ameretat, etc., are all under the same genus (Morbol), and as such making one article (Morbol) with all the sub-species, weakest to strongest, would make the most sense. So as for the "family group" thing, I say go for it, just remember to make a redirect for each sub-species.

Marlboro reference[]

While I am not at 100% to say, I was told otherwise by another FF site that the name Marlboro stems from a Latin phrase for "Bad Breath", not a play on the ciggerete brand. Can someone please confirm this?

Just a thought, but shouldn't you add a reference to the Malboro appearing in the movie Wreck it Ralf? You already added one for the moogles in the background. There is a Malboro in the group therapy scene when Ralf talks with Zangeif from Street Fighter. It even has a crown like it does in some of the games. It's been stated that that is not a Malboro, but just a generic monster. Espritduo (talk) 00:33, March 20, 2013 (UTC)
