The reason I listed Yuna was because it was her default job, and the job she is shown in most. The III and V cast don't have default classes (Freelancer/Normal doesn't really count). Diablocon 19:15, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Well, despite this she can class change, right? So no, she isn't. Frankly, games with the Job System itself are very difficult to manage. And the cast of III consists of four personality-less Onion Kids anyway. --Crazyswordsman 19:33, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- By that logic, Balthier should not be included in this iist because, yes, he starts off as a gunner, but he can change weapon, thus changing class since the Technicks are not class/weapon specific StijnX 19:36, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Considering that she is shown as a gunner in all cutscenes and on the map, it is her starting job and we have classified other characters with nebulous or customizable jobs as one or the other (IE: Aeris is a White Mage or Rikku is a thief) it is not inappropriate to list Yuna at least as starting as a gunner. --TacticAngel 19:39, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- I've never considered Rikku a Thief. She's a Chemist who happens to be able to Steal stuff. --Crazyswordsman 19:56, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- In any case, I think ShijnX has a point. There's nothing that marks Balthier any more of a gunner than Yuna. --TacticAngel 09:46, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- Hmm...it would appear that he has a gun, and starts out with a gun, and has guns in cutscenes cinematic. Go figure. --Auron Kaizer 10:22, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
- And Revenant Wings is apparently returning the Job system (I say apparently, the info could have been badly translated), and it appears Balthier likes wielding a gun in RW too. Diablocon 11:09, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

i was sitting in my Spanish class one day, daydreaming of old FF; back in the day when each class had it's own skill like Dragoon's could jump and Theif's could steal. Then i thought of Balthier and I realized his class doesn't rly have a skill! So i wondered a bit and (skipping some school work) i came up with an idea. Snipe! the gunner character's snipe command functions similar to the Dragoon's jump and Edgar from FFVI chainsaw. The gunner jumps back and takes aim from above rendering them "untouchable" similar to a dragoon's jump ability. However, when they attack, they do 1.5X more damage than usually but there is a chance that the shot will be a "headshot" doing instant death. there is also a chance the shot could very well miss completly! However, during boss battles or on enemies immune to instant death, a headshot would simply do 3X as much damage instead of instant death. And, just for customization, the probability of missing and getting a headshot could be swithced w/ different scopes similar to how ammo is equiped. For example, Baltheir starts of w/ Altair, onion shot and a basic scope which has an equal chance of gettin a Headshot, hitting or missing. However, he could find a telescopic scope which increases his chance of hitting the target but also deceases his chance of getting a headshot or missing the target. i guess another example could be a scope where his % of headshot was higher but so was his chance of missing and a scope where the the outcome of the shot is decided by slots similar to Wakka's Overdrives. of course, once again this is all "make believe" and just an idea i felt i should share.
Good idea, but you need to kidnap whoever that bastard who is ruining the series to make him use it. And kill Sakimoto while you're at it.
Magic Gunner[]
Should the Magic Gunner class be included on this page? Are You Serious 03:46, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- The initial idea was that FFTA2 jobs were not supposed to have pages until after the game is released, so seeing that we have little to no idea what this job REALLY does, I object to merging it here. Blue。 05:22, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Um, wouldn't Kaze from Final Fantasy Unlimited be here?
Reason for revamp:[]
Title says all, here's the reasons for the revamp I just did.
- I made Yuna the head image, since she's the only main series Gunner technically, since Barret was concept only and also certain spin-offs. However, if you guys think Barret should be the head image, swoop on in and change it. :)
- Roll with me here, but Vincent hasn't been assigned Gunner in his game, DoC withstanding. Not even dev stuff for Final Fantasy VII mention it, with his job being Horror Terror. Also point two for Vince, a majority of his attacks in LB mode are melee and magic based, the latter has even served as Vincent's primary stats in most later spin-offs.
- Irvine and Laguna were removed since they existed before the job did, moved to "Profile" section explaining the job influences.
- Removing superfluous characters that should not be pigeonholed into a job because "they have gun"; e.g: Sazh and Lightning - former being a booning caster, and the other being a melee caster.
- Same goes with Balthier, since RW has no official job class system. However, in terms of gameplay, he's more based on the Machinist from FFT. Later titles give him the job, Sky Pirate (see WotL and FFRK). (This should get a job page imo, since its a job in FFT, FFTA2, RW, and FFRK)
- Prompto and King however have been moved to allusions, due to them being more based on the Gunner job. However, Prompto now seems being dubbed "Royal Marksman" in newer stuff (at least in Japanese), but that's another problem for when it comes lol.
- Lastly, removal of Fusilier, different job Gunman (銃使い, Jūtsukai?). While yes, with how the Tsukai (使い) works (User, -man, -er), it can be called Gunner if you think hard enough, but that's really trying hard to make the hexagon fit in the circle hole. Moving to a new page.
If there's any problems or concerns, voice them here. --Miphares (talk) 09:47, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
- While you're correct to move the 銃使い instances over to Fusilier on the usual policy of grouping by JP name, I'm not sure we can claim that's a mistranslation as we currently say in the lede, "Gunner" for what we have literally translated as "Gunman" sounds reasonable. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 10:38, 20 August 2021 (UTC)
