Umm...what?
Edit
- I believe that was his first actual appearance, but he has been mentioned before DOC. Is it really appropriate to say the character was based of of Gackt? Maybe it should be more specific, saying his face was modeled after Gackt's. I don't know much about Genesis, but I know this needs to be expanded.--Sephiroth2.0 23:47, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
- Is the right pic the in-game character or did Gackt actually at some point wear the character's attire? Or are the character's clothes based on what Gackt actually wears?--Sephiroth2.0 04:48, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Gackt wore the entire costume at one point, since they used video-capture (or something) to digitally make the movie. In short, what he does/wears is transfered to the character in the video. But the costume is not that far from what he usually wears in his music videos. He wears something very similar to it in a music video for the song "Redemption", which is also part of the DoC soundtrack. --Hecko X 06:00, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
- Gackt's costume is the costume the designers put for the character of Genesis. They prolly made the costume for him since he is the motion capture actor for the character at the end of DoC. He then made the music video wearing the costume. Its just standard promotion. Its like getting Christian Bale to wear a Batman costume and sign autographs. But basically it works out as: Made the character of Genesis, asked Gackt to do it, made costume for Gackt, then did motion capture for Genesis for DoC, and then Gackt does the Redemption music video. He didn't do mtion capture nor video capture. It was traditional live action filming in front of a green screen. He was then incorporated into the CG environment.92.73.163.10 08:37, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

IMO this is the best FFVII-related character page in what counts to structure.

Project G
Edit
Genesis was also a part of project Gillian. At first Zack and alot of people thought Project G was named after Genesis but Hollander later explains that Project G stands for Gillian, therefore both Angeal AND Genesis were products of project Gillian but Gillian's only Angeal's biological mother.
| |||

Im pretty sure thats on there somewhere. Near the bottom
| |||
What is known is that he is the product of Jenova Project G (Genesis, in comparrison to Project Gillian that produced Angeal).
Well =/ it kinda sounds like they mean (whoever wrote it) that Project Genesis is different from Project Gillian. That's what i thought after i read it...maybe i'm just an idiot O_o
| |||
Well after typing this comment up we'll see if anybody made a Jenova Project page. Either way, I'll some writing to do this fine Sunday.

Small edit-
Edit
It's not a big thing, but the quote at the top was wrong. It said "My soul, corrupted by vengeance, hath endured torment to find the journey's end," and it's supposed to say, "My soul, corrupted by vengeance, hath endured torment to find the end of the journey." It wasn't a big thing, it just bothered me. So...thought I'd let you know.

Man that is one awesome sword... Not nearly as aweXome as Cloud's Heavens Cloud though... What? I like swords! They're my weapon of choice!
| |||
You are right, that's a damn fine sword!

I'm wondering if "Mystic Knight" should be added to his Job Class window. After watching the battle between him and Sephiroth, it does seem Genesis' sword has runes on it, and it does channel magical energies. Not to mention, while to be fair everyone else can channel magic into their weapons via Materia, I've never seen anyone do it as Genesis does.
Well? Come vote in the Soul Shrine and take one of my Final Fantasy quizzes.

Yeah, why it was on Seph's page confused me. When does Sephiroth ever channel magical energy into the Masamune?

- A bit old, but it might be interesting to note that during the development, Cloud was originally going to be a Mystic Knight. In the same way that Angeal was based on Cloud's early designs, I could see Genesis' fighting style / sword being similarily inspired by that. FF-Suzaku 03:19, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
First of all, anyone who thinks that anyone in VII can be classified by job should be shot. Genesis channels magic with materia just like everyone else. The only differance is that you don't get to equip him with those materia because he is an enemy. In all of the character pages for 2,7,8,10, and 12 the job BS should be dropped.--Werefang 00:03, 11 June 2009 (UTC)
So..?
Edit
So I guess in the end Genesis goes good. But Angeal had himself killed because he couldn't take something thought bad and make good come out of it. Those are two different ways of handling bad situations. Thoughts on this anyone? --24.151.245.223 00:41, 4 August 2008 (UTC)TIWIH777
Maybe Square will bring back Genesis in a DoC sequel as a good guy, and he helps Cloud and the others protect the planet. How about my theory?
| |||
I doubt it. He's just as bad as Sephiroth. I read one time that square has considered another movie (I don't remember what page, maybe AC or ACC trivia) so his story could be rapped up in that instead of being in what will probably be the final game. That villian's spot is reserved for Sephiroth. Think about it like this, Sephiroth is You-know-who and Genesis and those other wierd clones are just the Death Eaters.

Crimson Rapier Sword
Edit
So... Anyone here who knows the name of Genisis' trademark sword?
| |||
Sweet Nightmare - Hey, would you say...I became a hero?
TALK - I've thought of a wonderful present for you. Shall I give you despair? 10:45
In everything I've seen it's just called Rapier, even in the official walkthrough. Guess his sword doesn't get a special name.
| |||
thats the name of his sword...crimson rapier sword...by the way,does anybody know where to get genesis'official square enix cartoon drawing?i have been searching for months..and i havent found any sign of that marvelous drawing of which i speak..hahano really where? and no its not this one this is in the dirge of cerberus i mean the official cartoon pic of genesis in crisis core...he looks so hot..i mean good..he looks goodK!m~ 08:07, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
- The official name of his sword is simply "Rapier", though there's been speculation that it may be the Kikuichimonji, due to one of the fanclub quizes in Crisis Core listing it alongside the Masamune and Buster Sword as one of three possible answers. That's unlikely, however, as it would've likely been officially named by now. FF-Suzaku 03:19, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Quote
Edit
The page about Genesis is very nice, but I still think they should put "Even if the morrow is barren of promises, nothing shall forestall my return." quote on the beginning instead of "My soul,...". It seems to me like his favourite, and mine as well. What do you think? 81.92.150.1 17:20, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
I love that quote--but it doesn't say much about his personality and motivations. The current one has significance to the game plot's mirroring of LOVELESS. Dazuro 17:26, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
Alright, I get it. But what about putting it as an ending quote? It would be good, wouldn´t it?81.92.150.1 15:37, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
i think we should put "The gift of the goddess" he usually says that..or "to be the
dew that quences the land to spare the sand,the sea and the skies,i offer thee this silent sacrifice" K!m~ 02:16, 13 December 2008 (UTC)thta's the last quote he said on the ending of crisis core..hehe
New to This
Edit
Hey guys, I'm new to this, so bear with me. I made this for this page:
| Name | Genesis Rhapsodos |
| Job Class | Red Mage |
| Weapon(s) | Sword |
| Spells | Firaga, Poison, Curaga |
| Limit Breaks | Apocalypse |
You can use it if you want, I don't want to do anything in case it might be wrong. :) -OrangeGel
nice box... =) But I thought that infobox is only for playable character, no? - SilverSummoner 02:16, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
Right you are. Genesis is not a playable character, so this cannot be used. - DeadlySlashSword 02:18, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
I think we should include genesis in the villains section after all he is the main antagonist of Crisis Core; Final Fantasy VII
About that weapon...
Edit
A "basket hilt" would be a hilt resembling a basket, which means that it would be made up from metal bars crossing over each other creating a sort of checker-pattern. I'm feeling a bit anal right now, that's why I've changed that for "complex hilt".
"broadsword" is a victorian term that describes whatever they felt like. But the term was mostly applied to basket hilted claymores from the 16th and 17th century and the broad, straight slashers the poles used in addition to their other weapons. Sadly, these were one-handed weapons.
I've exchanged that for "bastard sword" for two reasons. First, that's what people actually called a long sword and second a long sword could be potentially gripped with two hands. Something you can't do with a broadsword. And we've got some bastard swords with complex hilts, but none with basket hilts.
- Genesis' weapon is a rapier, a strait bladed sword with a hand guard. A broad sword is a one handed sword without a guard. A bastard sword (hand-and-a-half sword) is wield with one hand or two hands. A longsword is a sword that necessitates the use of 2 hands according to traditions.--Werefang 23:52, 10 June 2009 (UTC)
- That is not the full definition of a rapier. A rapier is a much more slender fencing-style weapon used mainly for thrusting. I think someone above said Genesis's weapon is classified as a rapier by some Final Fantasy source (I admit I haven't even played any game he's in) and I don't know what to make of that, but the English word "rapier" does not refer to anything like this and it should probably be changed in the article. Maybe just describe what it's like and add that it's referred to as a rapier, if that's true. Ville V. Kokko 19:26, November 18, 2009 (UTC)
The source for the name of Genesis' blade, the Rapier, is the Ultimania - the Crisis Core one, I believe. 694377iDNumbers 18:06, November 27, 2009
Genesis's Voice Actors
Edit
Genesis's first voice actor from Dirge of Cerberus sucked! The guy made him sound like a vampire with a heavy-ass accent. I loved how Oliver Quinn did him in Crisis Core, and I hope Square brings him back since they say that Genesis is returning in a future FFVII title as a hero.

Par with Sephiroth?
Edit
I highly doubt this.
The Man In The Black Cape - Flectere si nequeo superos, Achaeronta movebo!
TALK - The Man In The Black Cape 19:37, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
Maybe not quite on par in terms of strength, but he's definitely on the same kind of playing field as him, up there with Cloud, Zack, and Angeal, seeing as how he's one of the Super-SOLDIERs, with JENOVA cells as well as the Mako Radiation Therapy, and could go toe to toe with him in the uber-cool fight scene in CC. You could argue that he degenerated, that he was a failed experiment, and that he got beaten by Zack, who was himself smacked around by Sephiroth, but his degeneration problem was solved at the end of CC by Minerva, and when Zack beat him he had been given the Super-SOLDIER treatment by Hojo during his incarceration in Nibelheim, and we don't know how Zack 2.0 compared to Sephiroth at all. Plus, Genesis seems to be far better informed than anyone else in the Compilation, and probaby has an ace or two up his sleeve, knows some stuff that none of the other characters know.
| |||
The Ultimania straight up says that at the time of Crisis Core, Genesis and Sephiroth were on the same level of fighting ability. Sure, they may have different specialties, like Genesis with his magic and Sephiroth with his sword, but like I said, the Ultimania flat out says they're at the same level. We all know Sephiroth eventually becomes the best out of anyone, but it's not like Sephiroth came straight from the womb being the strongest shit there is. It's not hard to believe that at some point someone's own strength level paralleled his own, even if it was for a small window of time. --Doop. 04:37, February 28, 2010 (UTC)
Genesis's Rapier
Edit
I remember at some point finding that Genensis's sword is actually called the "Sword of Vermillion". Can I put that on his page, or is there anything that may disprove that? I would like some permission before I make any changes.--Pwndulquiorra 00:56, April 24, 2010 (UTC)
- You've got it backwards - provide proof of the name before you change it. Doreiku Kuroofangu 01:37, April 24, 2010 (UTC)
Okay. That's all I need. I just heard it somewhere when I looked up Genesis's sword at one point. But, like I already stated, I won't change anything until I have premission.--Pwndulquiorra 00:42, April 25, 2010 (UTC)

You don't need all 3 to get the secret ending. You need at least 2. I know this for a fact because I have never found G Report 1. AmbieSushi To think that mother would prefer Sephiroth over... 03:12, August 28, 2011 (UTC)
Dante look-alike?
Edit
Does Genesis look like the Dante from Devil May Cry? The only difference is the hair color...
XIII-2 Reference?
Edit
One of the Brain Blast questions has a wrong answer in it called "The Genesis Project". I know Project G stands for Gillian, so this is pretty conjectural, but could this be considered a reference?
