[edit] A Community Message

Whether tragic events touch your family personally or are brought into your home via newspapers and television, you can help children cope with the anxiety that violence, death, and disasters can cause.

Listening and talking to children about their concerns can reassure them that they will be safe. Start by encouraging them to discuss how they have been affected by what is happening around them. Even young children may have specific questions about tragedies. Children react to stress at their own developmental level.

The Caring for Every Child's Mental Health Campaign offers these pointers for parents and other caregivers:

  • Encourage children to ask questions. Listen to what they say. Provide comfort and assurance that address their specific fears. It's okay to admit you can't answer all of their questions.
  • Talk on their level. Communicate with your children in a way they can understand. Don't get too technical or complicated.
  • Find out what frightens them. Encourage your children to talk about fears they may have. They may worry that someone will harm them at school or that someone will try to hurt you.
  • Focus on the positive. Reinforce the fact that most people are kind and caring. Remind your child of the heroic actions taken by ordinary people to help victims of tragedy.
  • Pay attention. Your children's play and drawings may give you a glimpse into their questions or concerns. Ask them to tell you what is going on in the game or the picture. It's an opportunity to clarify any misconceptions, answer questions, and give reassurance.
  • Develop a plan. Establish a family emergency plan for the future, such as a meeting place where everyone should gather if something unexpected happens in your family or neighborhood. It can help you and your children feel safer.

If you are concerned about your child's reaction to stress or trauma, call your physician or a community mental health center.

Won't somebody PLEASE think of the children? :'( --Auron Kaizer 18:58, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
What the heck does this have to do with FF? O_o --Lycentia 19:12, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
I can totally relate. Ever since meteorfall, raising my child here in Edge has been impossible. The fact that my son Jimmy then contracted Geostigma didn't help at all, all he did was sulk and talk about some kind of reckoning from some chick called Kadaj. And even when he was cured, those Deepground guys who came and tried to kidnap him didn't help. Honestly, I'd be better off raising my kid in Ivalice. --Diablocon 20:00, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
You raised your child in Edge? How the hell did you manage to get eaten by a Ninja? --Crazyswordsman 20:38, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
You're all a bunch of goofballs. You know that right? ^_^ --Lycentia 22:36, 18 January 2007 (UTC)
"You raised your child in Edge? How the hell did you manage to get eaten by a Ninja?" - It was tough, but he managed to do it, he has a surpisingly big mouth under that scarf. Originally though, we lived in Rydia, but she tended to complain. (Seriously, I'm currently playing Durge of Cerberus, and it's odd hearing people currently refer to a place called Edge without realising how stupid it sounds. Well, I say "playing", but that should really be "forcing myself to play", I can only play it in short bursts, with some FF XII in between to dull the pain) --Diablocon 23:13, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Something's wrong with this page

Everytime I try to save, it's protected by some Spam filter, which for some reason exists. --Crazyswordsman 02:38, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

Works fine for me. By chance, have you gotten a new browser (or updated it) recently? --Hecko X 03:27, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
No. --Crazyswordsman 03:51, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
I got kicked in the head by the same filter. The words about tragic events touching your family is interfering with the filter.--Goldberry2000 12:11, 19 January 2007 (UTC)
I have no idea why "tragic events" stuff would do that. I guess we shouldn't write about such things. --Crazyswordsman 16:00, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] There Needs To be More!

In my opinion ff7 and ff8 are the best. So i wanna see a follow up movie to ff8 and maybe a brawler where yoour Zell or a shooter as laguna or Irvine. -DiablosInferno Template:Yugioh1126

Crazyswordsman - Final Fantasy VI, because Drake says he wants to link to FF7 every day, which is bad because that game is so far inferior to FF6.
TALK - 10:50, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
That's the worst idea I've ever heard of.
SmegHead - Just kickin' back...
TALK - 23:44, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Even though I love VIII, the idea of a followup movie chills my veins. Totally not necessary.
AuronKaizer - Forever better than the rest.
TALK - Time time knocked me out of my mind. 23:51, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Nah, as much as I like it, I really want Squenix to stop their sequel insanity and focus on what's important - a wrestling game featuring all the female characters (perhaps excluding Brahne).

Creepy fantasies (no pun intented) aside, at least it would be better than a FFXII CGI movie. All the story in that game is enough for your standard 2 hour movie in that.

No! Put Brahne in!

Mymindislost - You made me forget my dreams when I woke up to you sleeping...
TALK - 02:41, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
I would say, make Brahne an unlockable character in her regular costume from the game, with a bikini has an unloackable outfit.

Just try to get THAT image out of your head. ^_^

What a stupid idea. And you guys are stupid for thinking crap like that up. Square Enix is only best for innovative games like their Final Fantaasy franchise and other RPGs they make. -- Zeta Stryker 0:31, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

Have you seen any of the crap they put out lately?

Man Final Fantasy 8 sucked. Why the fuck would anyone want to make a sequal to it? Its too damn complicated and the characters annoy me, all copies should be buried somewhere to remove its stain on humanity. (BlueHighwind 23:42, 5 September 2007 (UTC))

GunbladeWarlord - "Whatever..."
TALK - Sometime, 2008
I would like to kindly, and vehemently disagree with BlueHighwind, as well as tell him that VIII was possibly the best game in the series. Furthermore, to spout insults at something with no backup or evidence is to insult ones own intellect. I take my leave of this page.
BlueHighwind Q?
TALK - I Am Vengeance. I Am the Knight. I Am Batman! :
Yeah, no armor, no MP, can't use spells because they are boosting you stats, no real shops, Squall being twenty levels above the rest of the party making every enemy in world twenty levels above the party, no skipping Summon Movies, crappy card games, and a terrible storyline that knocked-off the only good character for Mrs. Lametart. Call me out on my Talk Page, don't do it here behind my back.

I take my leave of this fanboy.

Squallinoa_08 - ""Right and wrong are not what separate us and our enemies. It's our perspectives that separate us."
TALK - 8:34pm 12, July 08
Oh STFU BlueHighwind. Just shut the fuck up already god. You always say that FFVIII suck, but you never leave enough reasons why. You only say that cuz ur a FF7 fanboy. You basically worship 7 as if it was a gift from the gods. You masturbate to FF7: masturbate to Tifa pics, Aerith pics, Yuffie pics, Vincent pics, Cloud & Sephiroth pics of course, and plus you like it when 2 guys in the game are homosexually getting really connected to eachother like Cloud & Zack. I like FF7, but it's not the greatest FF ever. I think 6 is. You never gave FF8 a chance, its always FF7 with you. FF7 is nothing bout an Emofaggot stopping an Emo crybaby mama's boy from destroying the world. If you hate FFVIII, thats fine. Maybe you should take FF8, FF7, or better yet, all of your FF7 crap and shove it up your hairy FF7 fanboyish ASS! I'm very sorry, but I hate when you keep hating FF8. At least give it a damn try.

Go on, write it.

[edit] Battle System

Squall92 21:35, 27 October 2007 (UTC) I don't know about you guys, but I love the battle system in 8. It was unique, and it allowed alot of veraity in the encounters, and also let you focuson different areas of attack. I never had a complaint and thought it was better than basically coping and pasting the same battle system that alot of Final Fantasies share. Your thoughts?

[edit] Should this be mentioned?

[edit] Ultimecia, easiest final boss, but long process?

Ser Blue says at 18:12, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
Your joyfulness of beating Ultimecia reminded me of my own victory six years ago against Ultimecia, accomplished just minutes before the first bell of my school rang that morning. Ahh..such blissful memories.

And, ser, you should have stock-cast Apocalypse. It had some cool animation of some sort, moreso than Ultima.

AuronKaizer - Forever better than the rest.
TALK - Time time knocked me out of my mind. {{{time}}}
What a lame way to beat her/it. What is an arua squall anyway?

arua squall, cast arua on squall.

DrakemasterDrake - "I would rather live a short life of glory than a long one of obscurity."
TALK - {{{time}}} The clock on this site is so messed up, why bother?
Sounds too easy. For final bosses I like a challenge, like with IV and Zeromus. The easiest final boss in Final Fantasy has to be the Emperor though. Two bloodswords=Two turns.

[edit] Featured article

{{AuronKText|text=Congrats on you guise finally making this the featured article. I'm also very happy you decided to change the crappy "appearances" section too.

[edit] script

hi i am loking for a script of final fantasay 8 any recomendations

Netherith - UBOAR!!:

scroll down until you find Game Script.

[edit] Name change question...?

When I first played FFVIII, I noticed that when each character was introduced, there was a "cycling" of text boxes right before their name was first mentioned, as if there used to be a pause for the player to change the character's name. Is this so? If so, why was it removed from the final game? I mean, there wasn't any voice acting, you could already change GF names, and it's not like it could've used up THAT much more memory, could it?

[edit] Subsequent Appearences

Ultimateria - I'm cute and cuddly!
TALK - Cacti don't need pupils. {{{time}}}
This section is inaccurate and I can tell, but I don't know all of the information. I'm nearly positive that Ultimecia wasn't in Kingdom Hearts, and I know that Fuujin, Raijin, and Seifer weren't in the first one. This section deserves a rewrite.

[edit] Tenth Anniversary

Does anyone know if Square Enix had anything officially recognizing or celebrating the 10th anniversary of the game? If so, it seems like that is something that should go on the page. 71.107.197.4 22:10, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

TenzaZangetsu 11,532 10 September 2009 (UTC)  -   "A man who's lost his pride can never be free.":
Square did squack but I'm not totally sure, I'll try to search for info and just remember that FFVIII is celebrating ten years. They should make a sequel or a remake.

[edit] Edit Request

  • Can someone please go back and fix the facts about Squall, Raine, and Laguna? In describing them and their story no mention of Squall being their child should be mentioned, and on the bottom a section saying "Rumors" should have the information of Squall having the possibility of being Raine's and Laguna's child. Not the other way around!
  • Also Seifer is missing a Creation and Development if someone could find that information and post it, it would be greatly appreciated.
