Gilgamesh: Enough expository banter!
This talk page is used for discussing improvements to the page "Final Fantasy IV version differences". It is not the place for general discussion or sharing stories about the topic of this article.

To get one thing clear, Euro Anthology had only one FMV and that was at the beginning when the game started up, not a new game.  I Lion Heart I 14:16, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

Bows Work As Intended.[]

They were never meant to provide regular damage from the back row. Thats an invention of later games. Instead, what the bows do is work for FF4's bizarre Rock-Paper-Scissors strength>weakness system. While most of the games in the series have elemental only, this game has certain weapon types work better against certain enemies.

Against Giants and I think machines, the Bow will inflict massive damage. These creatures are otherwise very irritating or costly magically to destroy. Think of FF6's Air Anchor for a similar idea, or the resistance to Piercing on a D&D Undead.

Actually better yet, think of the Undead on mt. Ordeals, and how Cecil's sword can do virtually no damage to them. 74.128.56.194 02:53, May 11, 2011 (UTC)

...A giant metal ball.[]

I could never quite figure out what this change was hoping to accomplish. I mean, usually its something like censors, but id think a giant iron ball would be much more horribly graphic (think: drop a rock on a tomato.) than a scythe.

Also, Its fun to just leave your team standing there as the game's unpaused, then going outto dinner or something. Good thing we got back when we did, that was a close one! Xtapolapocetl 01:53, August 4, 2011 (UTC)

iOS[]

Should we put a section for the iOs differences? There are quite a lot.. s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 10:46, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

If there are differences then yeah. :)Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 16:56, February 20, 2013 (UTC)
Differences that aren't already listed in the DS section, that is. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 19:41, February 20, 2013 (UTC)

List[]

There are a lot.
  • "Stat increases decrease sharply after Level 70 for all characters" - my party's past LVL 80, but the stats were increasing as usual as they level up...if I'm not getting it wrong.
  • "A retranslated script incorporating many concepts originally left out, such as Zemus's desire for the Lunarians to populate Earth, and information regarding Kain's father." - This was not included, but the young Golbez part was.
  • And sadly, there were absolutely NO FMVs. There were cutscenes, but the cool CG intro was excluded.
  • Fat Chocobo only allows you to view the Bestiary and re-watch cutscenes. I remember there was no music player. No Item showcase either.
  • I don't think Geyron and Proto-Babil was there, either.

Is this okay? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 08:51, February 21, 2013 (UTC)

Looks good. Although I think that bit in the DS section about stat gains needs to be rephrased, stat gains don't really decrease sharply in any version. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 08:56, February 21, 2013 (UTC)
AAAAll right. But my mistake, Proto Babil and Geyron can be fought, there's a badge for them in the Game Center badges system. Is "abridged script and story information" an ok way to describe the massive chunks of information they took away? s̅̅s̅̅o̅̅r̅̅c̅̅̅̅e̅̅n̅̅i̅̅v̅̅i̅̅d̅̅ 03:27, February 24, 2013 (UTC)
Uhh....can we get another person to actually confirm these differences? After looking around on gamefaq's, I'm beginning to think divine is not quite accurate on some of this and it is confusing people there. I may just have to buy the Android version and see for myself what's what. Espritduo (talk) 14:05, June 7, 2013 (UTC)

Hidden room in Baron[]

I seem to remember a hidden room in Baron Castle at the start of the game that you walk through black space to get to, to the west of where the people are just sitting around. The PC version doesn't have it and neither does the SNES ROM I downloaded to check it out. Am I remembering soe other castle in a similar game? Does anyone remember something similar? Water Crystal Scene[]

I seem to recall there being dialogue in the scene where Cecil steals the Water Crystal in the SNES version, but said dialogue was removed in later versions, the scene just playing out silently instead. Blackchaos27 (talk) 22:15, November 8, 2018 (UTC)
