The plot page is much to short. Could someone who's played the game include further details? Instead of ending with "this is only the beggining" you should continue with what happens after that. The other one's have far more detailed plot pages.

Might I recommend http://www.eyesonff.com/ff3/faq.php? (I have no affiliation with that site.) Obviously I'm not suggesting copying it verbatim, but it might be useful in summarizing the plot. -- Dez 19:06, 18 December 2006 (UTC)

DS versions own page. Edit

I wonder. Since the DS was not the original game re-relaesed but a complete overhall with severl new additions. Should it get its own page? Anyone else have any suggestions? -RedFalcon

I'm going to say no, because that could create potential problems in the future. Never know when Square will remake another game (I & II are getting even more remakes for example). Diablocon 09:41, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Story Addition Edit

I majorly updated the story section. I'm about half way done, but if anyone wants to complete it for me or revise it so its shorter go ahead. Personally I think having the complete story laid out is a good thing because this is suppose to be an "all Final Fantasy inclusive" wiki.

Great work! I wouldn't have been able to make that much out of FFIII's story. And long ones are good, just look at mine on FFVIII's article. Keep it up. --Auron Kaizer 05:36, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

NamesEdit

All FFIII articles (Gulgan/Gurgan, Onion Knight/Onion Kid...) include names from a fan translation. I think that we can't count fan translations. These names are incorrect, created by a fan. For example, Gurgan is incorrect, like Ghurgan or Goolgan. The only official name is Gulgan. Can we include "invented" names? --Sinh 19:30, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Final Fantasy III for PS Edit

If anyone has any information on the creators thoughts on a PS version of this game, be it rumors or comments, I think it should be added to the article. I do hope that there will be an international console release so that I and many others can complete their collection for the playstation series. //A-Gen

It won't be because the PlayStation is OLD. Games aren't made for it anymore; they are however purchasable in PS online stores for PS3s. That's the only way FFIII for PS is gonna happen.  I Lion Heart I 16:24, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
There's no way that there's gonna be a remake for the PS. It was made something like more than 10 years ago, and there's already been a release for the DS recently. SE only makes remakes every 10-15 years after the last newest version (besides I and II). ScatheMote 16:28, 24 January 2009 (UTC)
I was just thinking as they released Origins 3 years after the release of PS2 the hope for a PS version och FF3 was not entirely dead. That gap in the collection is really an annoying one ;/ //A-Gen

FFIV: The After does not say The Creator destroyed FFIII's dark worldEdit

Gameplay of ending?Edit

So, I'd like to add somewhere that the last 5ish hours of the game don't allow saving (a la the ending in FFX?). Where would this work in the article? Mckaysalisbury 20:53, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Trivia ?Edit

Couldn't it be mentioned that the nameless warrior is similar in appearance to the Onion Knight from Dissidia, along with the sword trivia? Why not PSP? Edit

About FF3 I love this game but it wasn't until I heard about FF4 Complete Collection for the PSP I realized the fact they completely skipped 3. I am like... Square purposely jumped from 2 to 4 it almost seems like they really don't like this game being re-released. I mean it took what? 15 years to bring it to the DS...?

I thought maybe they had an exclusive deal with Nintendo, or maybe they thought it was too much trouble reusing Luneth and Refia etc... (I assume if they were going to make a PSP version they might want go back to the classic default Onion Knight characters but since Luneth, Arc, Ingus and Refia are canon now...) But for whatever reason they completely skipped this game I just want to know... why?

I personally love the sprites for 1 and 2 PSP because just the sleekness of them makes the game feel cozy. And missing out on so many jobs sprites to use is kind of annoying. Passing up on another remake to such a great game feels just wrong, especially with all those people who live in america and don't play DS.

Sadly, as much as I'd like to believe that, I can't. Because from what I heard PSP is already dead to Sony. It's all "vita" now. They even stopped production on PSP's from what I heard. Maybe I'm wrong? Moogleknight24 21:18, June 10, 2012 (UTC)Moogleknight24

Since I last replied I checked Gamefaqs and even they confirmed it. For someone who is desperate to get this game on PSP I sure sound like I don't want it :-/ But anyway... JOY!!! Moogleknight24 21:23, June 10, 2012 (UTC)Moogleknight24

Color me unimaginably disappointed. It's a PSP release of the DS version, not the glorious 2D PSP versions we got for FFI, II, and IV. I find myself trying hard to care about this. I wanted to see crisp, 2D sprites, not the blocky, ugly 3D things we got in the DS version. I saw that once, and while it was a welcome release where there hadn't been any official FFIII release before, it was enough the first time. It's a crying shame, and inexplicable, since they didn't do this with FFIV PSP. Oh, and here's the official site, in case there's any doubt - http://www.square-enix.co.jp/ff3ds/ Espritduo 12:07, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

Yes, there is another section about the PSP-section. But the release date and the youtube-vid wasn't yet told so I believe 'ORLY?' was quite unnecessary. Not raging or anything, just didn't understand the answer. Mister Tonberry 09:50, June 11, 2012 (UTC)

A Question Concerning the Scholar Edit

I've always wondered, why is the Scholar lised as a physically-oriented class :/? Aren't they magically oriented? They can cast magic (in the DS/iOS versions only), their Intelligence is their highest stat, and their special weapons, books, which can only be equipped by Scholars and Onion Knights, boost Intellect and Mind. How in name of Sephiroth's mother is this job not magically-oriented? 67.244.5.142 17:59, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

I'd never thought about that...however, it's been some time since I've played III, so I can't remember myself. If you think the wrong info has been put in, feel free to change it. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 18:12, June 29, 2012 (UTC)
I guess it's off to editing then! I shall be back in around three days, in time for the Terminan Apocalypse :D! ... Why did I just reference Majora's Mask O.O? 67.244.5.142 18:23, June 29, 2012 (UTC)
Done! I've edited the orientation of the Scholar and it's now in the Magic-orientation! And best of all, the moon isn't falling... yet... 67.244.5.142 18:32, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, it is :D. That buys me more time to search for the Gilgamesh mask! ... Kool-Aid Man: Oh, yeah! [Ouya] Edit

OMG!! XD I'm so excited about Final Fantasy III finally coming to the console in its original resolution (despite the fact that it's getting better graphics). I read that this game is described as the "missing piece." If that's true than this gives us one more reason to look forward to this game. =) --Ethanthegamer (talk) 03:48, August 14, 2012 (UTC)

Japanese Version with English Option for TextEdit

Warriors' gender in the NES version. Edit

I think they are all male. There is a line if dialog from the Japanese version that uses the word "shounen" meaning "boys" to refer to them. Here's a picture. http://i46.tinypic.com/34yzb7c.jpg The first sentence says "the boys received the crystal's light."--PN8 (talk) 23:51, March 24, 2013 (UTC)

Reason for Differences Edit

I've been wondering why there's so little character development in the DS version and why all the weapons/armor are different. According to here, they didn't use most of the text and weapon/armor list was just copied from another game. Should we include any of this info on any of the pages. --174.0.240.252 00:33, June 29, 2013 (UTC)

Job maths Edit

How was the number 8,855 arrived at for the number of different party configurations? With 4 characters and 23 jobs I arrive at a value of 23^4 = 279,841. Even if we're only looking at "essentially different" parties (i.e. if we view Warrior-Warrior-Thief-Monk as being the same as Warrior-Thief-Warrior-Monk) then I arrive at a value of 14,950. I cannot, for the life of me, see how 8,855 is achieved. 88.211.95.121 18:20, July 24, 2014 (UTC)

It has been calculated (23 x 22 x 21 x 20) / (4 x 3 x 2 x 1) = 8855. How do you calculate 14,950? :) (I am not the one who did the original math. I used this maths guide.)Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 17:55, July 24, 2014 (UTC)
That's the number of combinations ignoring repetitions. Essentially that's the number of combinations you'd get if you couldn't have two characters be the same class. We want to include the possibility of repetitions to allow the example I gave above. I won't go into the proof (although it can be found here) but the number we actually need to calculate is (23 + 4 - 1)!/(23 - 1)!4! = 14,95088.211.95.121 18:20, July 24, 2014 (UTC)
