From Final Fantasy Wiki
When are you going to decide what ARE the names of the summons in FFXII? They seem to differ at EVERY page. --Auron Kaizer 19:40, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
- It appears that the official NTSC A/C translations are used on this page, and should be used on every other page refering to these summons, to avoid some confussion. --Diablocon 19:48, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Lucavi on FFT and Espers on FFXII ?
From a FF forum I'm in:
- Cuchulainn = Queklain (Draclau's Lucavi)
- Belias = Velius (Wiegraf's Lucavi)
- Zalera = Zalera (Elmdor's Lucavi)
- Adrammelech = Adramelk (Dycedarg's Lucavi)
- Hashmal = Hashmalum (Vormav's Lucavi)
- Ultima = Altima (Alma's Lucavi)
- Zodiark = Zodiac (Elidib's Summon)
The other Espers may represent the other, unnamed Lucavi in FFT:
- Mateus
- Shemhazai
- Exodus
- Zeromus
- Famfrit
- Chaos
This makes sense since there were thirteen Lucavi, if you include Serpentarius. Thoughts ? Renmiri 04:46, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- 1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 little links for you.
- We'll just say it's because of the long absence and that you were to tired to read the articles and leave it at that ^_^ I think the first notation on this wiki about this was made by me back in the middle of October, but it's nice to see that others are noticing it too (Though, the Japanese players and the sites devoted to FFXII has known for probably half a year, if not more). --Hecko X 06:57, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
- Also, in Tactics, it does mention the other Lucavi by name at one point (I'm not sure where). However, some people are thiking the PSP version will retcon this so they mention these Espers instead. And to finish where Hecko was, Mateus, Exodus and Famfrit are Totema from Tactics Advance. Diablocon 10:51, 16 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 20 Espers?
Hey, :D the article said there were known 20 espers, but in the game I found only thirteen. Where's the other seven? Bluerダヨ 00:43, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- That number's probably also referring to espers mentioned in the bestiary entries of the 13 that can be obtained in the game. Nosefoot 02:59, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, it takes into consideration the Ascendants of Light, as well as dark. And also, if you count RW, there's well over 50, if they're still called Espers that it. Diablocon 12:29, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
- I think this assumption is a mistaken one. The game's script and bestiary, as far as I can see, only refers to those that rebelled against the gods as Espers. It doesn't appear to refer to the Scions as a whole. All Espers are Scions, it would seem, but not all Scions are Espers. -- 77.99.30.226 12:17, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

| Good catch, that never occured to me. Esper refers to those that have been sealed away and can be summoned.
However, going by Revenant Wings, there are still over 20 Espers. ;)

- Does RWs use the same term to refer to both Summons and Espers, then? That's interesting. Even so, the distinction between scion and esper isn't very clear in the article. --77.99.30.226 20:50, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Job Classes
Why the heck are these here? These are espers, they do not have job classes. Unless this is from some official guide, it should be removed immediately.PiccoloNamek 20:37, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

| Yeah. The "job" section is in reference to which job class can summon each Esper in the International version of FFXII.

| You got a little confused there MMIL. Any job can summon any Esper in XII International, it's just that each Esper/Zodiac sign represents a different job.

| Probably because of the connection between the job and the zodiac sign. I don't have the FFXII:IZJS Ultimania, it may be mentioned there, but I'm pretty sure the Jobs got nothing to do with the Espers and should be removed too.
@MMIL: No. All jobs can summon all Espers regardless. Unless another character learned it already.

"White Mage is a License Board in Final Fantasy XII International, represented by the zodiac sign of Aries.".
What does this have to do with espers? How in the world is Belias, an esper of fire, related to White mages? How are any of the espers related to any of those jobs?PiccoloNamek 22:00, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

I don't think that is a good idea, because the way it's set up now, it make it look like each esper is associated with a particular job class.PiccoloNamek 22:03, 11 October 2007 (UTC)

| Got to agree with PiccoloNamek. Because one zodiac's job has no relation to one zodiac's Esper. Simple as that.

[edit] A Little Bit of Etymology
The Scion of Light, Emet-Shelch is the angel of truth. Emet-Shelch means in hebrew "Your Truth" I don't really know where to incorporate this in the article.
- Add an "Etymology" section at the very bottom. Is there any way you can find the explanation behind all the other ones? I thought they were all gibberish. --BlueHighwind ツ 19:32, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- I've added this explanation, along with ones to Adramelech and Hashmal. Those Are the only ones I know who have any meaning in hebrew. Can soeone please check the spelling?
- They should probably be placed at the bottom of each of the Esper articles, not the main article. Some of the articles already have etymologies, so you can expand on those too. — YuanSaluto!Acta 10:29, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
- I moved the explantions of those who has their own article to the article.
Is it worth mentioning that in several latin-based languages, such as French, the word esper is similar to the words for "hope", ie, "espere", in French. The Man In The Black Cape 20:47, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
