Merge to Dragon Equipment? Seems odd now to have a page for the weapon itself. Drake Clawfang 22:01, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
- No. This is about Wyvern Lance. Later renamed as Dragon Whisker. Not the same. - Henryacores^ 23:01, February 4, 2010 (UTC)
Problem. The FF5 Dragon Beard is obviously the same as the Dragon Whisker in name, but its a whip. Then again, FF4, Dragon Whisker was a whip too. Make mention of the beard here? Doreiku Kuroofangu 11:24, February 23, 2010 (UTC)
FFIII
The article claims that the Dragon Lance can be purchased on the invincible but I can't find it there. The shops only sell Defenders, Greataxes, some tomes, Yoichi arrows, Loki harps and Rune bells. Is this different on the DS version? R8.50Mango 20:15, October 23, 2010 (UTC)
Rename??
Not so much renaming as potential splitting. The page pretty much lists anything that would be a Dragon Spear here (Dragon Tusk, Dragon's Hair, Wyvern Lance, Dragon Whisker, Dragoon Spear, etc.). On top of that, not always is the Dragon Whisker a spear (it's a whip too), so the other spears can't really stay here, can they?? Or are they fine being here?
I checked our translation pages, and it seems what you see is what you get. Some games, in Japanese that is of course, have the Dragon Lance, others have Wyvern Lance, others have Dragon's Whisker. Even Dragon Lance and Dragoon Lance. The exception is FF2's Wyvern Lance, which we have no Japanese for, and Airborne Brigade where the Dragon Whisker is actually Hiryū no Yari, aka Wyvern Lance. The only instance of overlap is FF4, where the Wyvern Lance is the Dragon Spear in the PS version and Dragoon on the SNES.
That said though, I'm really not sure what to do with the page. Strictly speaking there are four different weapons, Dragon Lance, Dragoon Lance, Wyvern Lance, and Dragon's Whisker, and there is some variation in their skills, like the Wyvern Lance usually does extra damage to dragons while the Dragon's Whisker and Dragoon Lance are specifically Dragoon-empowering. Dragon Lance, on its own, doesn't have enough appearances for a page, only three appearances. But on the other hand, given their very similar names it will confuse readers to split the page, and will even get confusing here perhaps. It can and should be split, but I dunno, just doesn't seem right, lame as that sounds.
I'm in favour of splitting it into two pages, Dragon Whisker for (竜の髭, Ryuu no Hige?) and Wyvern Lance for (飛竜の槍, Hiryuu no Yari?). -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 06:47, May 9, 2014 (UTC)
Bringing this back up again. I'm kinda in favor of what Gordon suggested actually (sometimes Dragon Whisker is also a whip too, so there's that to keep in mind).
This is for the ongoing debate about splitting, which is going to happen eventually. This is the data gathered so far:
