Gilgamesh: Enough expository banter!
This talk page is used for discussing improvements to the page "Dark Kain". It is not the place for general discussion or sharing stories about the topic of this article.

Does this guy have his own stats then?  I Lion Heart I 16:07, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

He stands there for a second, jumps up and reveals Lunar Bahamut. So he could, but he's not in the battle long enough to find out. Diablocon 16:11, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Okay then.  I Lion Heart I 16:52, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Is this really deserving of it's own article? It's a charcter who breifly appears in and extra dungeon shouldnt it just be added to the Kain article? FinalFighterA+ 21:46, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Name[]

After the Hooded Man defeats "Kain," his name gains the question mark. Kain? really seems to be his name for good. Should we move the article to "Kain?"? Master Conjurer 23:50, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

I think we should if you're totally sure of that, if you're sure, I'll do it for you. --TenzaZangetsu 5 June 2009 (UTC)

But as far as I know, in Kain's chapter, he is found out to be the Dark Kain. Since FFIV uses Dark Kain as well, I think this should stay the same. - Henryacores^ 23:56, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Whatever but I think you're right because in FFIV, his name is Dark Kain, so this can be the default name for his article. --TenzaZangetsu 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Kain's Tale isn't stateside yet (and therefore not officially translated). It is a bit shaky in TAY, though, so I guess going by IV is good enough. Master Conjurer 01:19, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Actually, it is. It came with the normal game in America. Thus, I'd say move it back to "Kain?". ScatheMote 02:10, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
You're right. I didn't realize they changed the order for localization. So Kain's Tale says Kain? and not Dark Kain. Master Conjurer 05:23, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Keep it at Dark Kain. It's his FFIV name and is actually name. I don't want to have another Shuriken (Female)/Cissnei debate. People will call this dude "Dark Kain" and no one will call him "Kain?", because the only way to "pronounce" the "?" is to change the pronunciation of his name which will sound odd in the middle of a sentence. "Kain?" is just a "placeholder" of sorts. We know he's not "Kain" so menus shall call him "Kain?".  ILHI 12:15, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
Oh, I forgot to say, moving his article to "Dark Kain Highwind" might be an okay idea.  ILHI 12:16, 6 June 2009 (UTC)
I'll do it for you, Tenza needs work. --TenzaZangetsu 6 June 2009 (UTC)
When was he ever called "Dark Kain Highwind"? I can't seem to recall. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 14:35, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
He isn't. But he is "Dark Kain Highwind".  ILHI 18:11, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
As opposed to Dark Kain Smith? :P Master Conjurer 20:52, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
YES! I donno, I've always been taught to use the most fullest name possible. And when I say "taught", I mean self-taught. Look, we use Cidolfus Demen Bunansa over Doctor Cid. Cidolfus Demen Bunansa being as full as you can get. Dark Kain is his gameplay-name, but he is Dark Kain Highwind. It's his fullest name we know. It's true.  ILHI 21:03, 8 June 2009 (UTC)
ILHI does have a point, his in-game name is Dark Kain but people who doesn't know Kain will ask: "Who is Kain?", face it, there are people who is playing this game that hasn't play FFIV which mean that they don't know Kain Highwind. By the way, I was the one who moved the article, if you have been asking yourself that. --TenzaZangetsu 8 June 2009 (UTC)

But he's never called Dark Kain Highwind ingame, and it sounds ridiculous and stilted. Similar to how we can't give his height/weight just because it's the same as Kain's, we shouldn't call him that. We don't call her Dark Samus Aran over at the Metroid wiki, and that's for a damn good reason--the game doesn't call her that, and it sounds stupid. Same deal here. Boss Battle Names[]

The first battle that you must lose, he's called Kain. However, the real battle that is winnable he's called Kain?. ScatheMote 15:21, 8 June 2009 (UTC)

Job class[]

He won't be a Dark Dragoon since he is Kain's dark side? And when Kain defeats him, he turns into a Holy Dragoon (like Cecil against his dark side, a Dark Knight) and don't tell me because he doesn't have a dark-elemental skill because Cecil as a Dark Knight in the SNES version of FFIV doesn't have Darkness. --TenzaZangetsu 9 June 2009 (UTC)

Wut? Dark Cecil is a Dark Knight and Dark Kain is a Dragoon.  ILHI 17:44, 9 June 2009 (UTC)
I'm too tire to argue with you. --TenzaZangetsu 9 June 2009 (UTC)

His Height and Weight[]

He Kain's dark side other words copy, meaning they should have the same weight, height and maybe age. It make scents, right?  NeoZEROX Dissicon ff6 Ter4 21:29, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Well, that will be right but we need a source to prove it. --TenzaZangetsu 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Nightmare[]

Is it just me or does he look like Soul caliber 2's nightmare?http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/index.php?title=Special:UserLogin&returnto=Talk:Dark_Kain_HighwindPapayaking343 23:14, 18 August 2009 (UTC)

No, Nightmare is bigger, wields a Sword and he's badass. --TenzaZangetsu 18 August 2009 (UTC)

True.Papayaking 23:39, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Name Move[]

Unless it's written in the game as such or in another source of official material that his name is "Dark Kain Highwind", I suggest a move to "Dark Kain". - +DeadlySlashSword+ 06:53, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

Support. Unlike say, oh, "Lightning Farron" (because this is comparable), "Highwind" is never attributed to Dark Kain by anyone including himself. Websites and the manual for CC don't use it either that I could find. Doreiku Kuroofangu 07:21, June 22, 2011 (UTC)

Kingdom Hearts?[]

"He is the incarnation of the darkness in Kain Highwind's heart, fueled by Kain's hatred and jealousy towards Cecil and his unrequited love of Rosa."- HE'S A HEARTLESS! XD Not really, just thought I'd point that out! If anyone agrees with me, I'd like to add that the process that created him is the same process that creates the Heartless of Kingdom Hearts. AmbieSushi To think that mother would prefer Sephiroth over... 18:40, October 4, 2011 (UTC)
