[edit] Buster Sword Appearance in FF9
In the Lindblum weapons store, there's a Buster Sword hanging on the wall. When Zidane looks at it, he says something like: I once knew a guy with spiky hair, he would have bought one of those.
I think this should be added.

| I can't really see the sword too well, as Zindane's word bubble is blocking my view. I do remember Zidane saying this, but none of the swords on the wall looked anything like the Buster Sword to me.

The shop in the second screenshot is a different shop than in the first screenshot. That is why any of those swords seem like the Buster Sword.

| Actually, it doesn't matter if the Buster Sword is there or not, as the spikyhaired guy would "buy" any big sword. It's just a size reference.

| In Dissidia, if I remember correctly, Bartz is the Mimic character. If you're unfamiliar with fighting games, the Mimic character is a character who can use any character's fighting style but doesn't have one of their own (best example is Edge Master/Charade/Owl Guy from the various Soul Caliburs).
Mentioning Bartz can use the Buster Sword doesn't seem note worthy, since he can use everyone else's weapons as well. However, I could be dead wrong, since I haven't played the game yet and am relying on pre-release info.
EDIT CONFLICT: It is true, I've seen the trailer in question. And I don't see why we have to wait until the American release. Some users already have the Japanese release and can use that.
EDIT CONFLICT 2!: Thanks for confirming that Drake.

| The default job for all characters in FFV is the freelancer so that is more likely than mimic(Which hasn't equiped anything as far as I'v seen in any games). Plus, Freelancer job is like a better version of Onion Knight and can equip everything even two swords. A mime would weild ONLY the Buster Sword or ONLY the Gunblade.

| But a mime only imitates the actions of one ally in battle while freelance was the job that let him "borrow" other job skills and weapons (more like Soul's Charade).

| There isn't really space to put this picture somewhere in the main article, but it might be important to know that Zack tries to use the blunt side of the sword:

Wasn't IX set before Dissidia? I think it was. or how would Chaos and Cosmos know who to ask for help? 1stclasswarrior 19:31, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Dissidia seems to be a nexus between the FF worlds. It seems to be set INSTEAD of the actual games. AJ Werefang 14:11, 30 March 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Full size scale model
does anyone have any sort of idea who was commissioned to make the buster sword replica seen at the ACC premiere in Tokyo? if i can track them down, i would offer quite a bit to have them make me one. Thanks in advance!---- Ian Mac Pharlaine
[edit] Actual size?
I know this is stupid... but the sword seems to change size a lot from game to game, and even from scene to scene within a game. im making a replica for a cosplay, however... im thinking i made it a tad too large. Its 6 feet long nad the blade is 10" wide. the handle is just under an inch in diameter (though im going to build this up to just over an inch with leather).
looking at the Crisis Core video game box cover art, and the scene in Advent Children, it looks smaller... like 5' to 5' 6", and i have no idea how wide.
for those whove seen it, how big is the scale model seen at various events including the ACC premiere?
im asking cuz i want to make another buster sword thats as close as possible to the size, dimensions, and proportions as the original from crisis core and advent children to replace my old one.
thanks in advance
Ian

| As it turns out, Ian, the Buster Sword is a magical shape-shifting piece of equipment. Look at images in which Zack is holding it. It's exactly as tall as he is. Now look at images in which Cloud is holding it. It is shorter than he is. Now compare the heights of Zack and Cloud. Zack is taller than Cloud. Basically, when Cloud took it from Zack's corpse, it shrunk considerably.
What you should do, Ian, is make your sword look good on you, and not on the games' characters. It will look good as long as it comes up to between the top of your shoulder and the top of your head. I suggest around nose or eye level.

well... on CC's cover art, its WAY shorter than Zack. What about angeal? it seems to be either just below his own height, or almost a foot shorter than he is. damn... what were the CG tech guys on? i mean, the buster sword even changes its appearance between Crisis Core, FF7, ACC, KH, and Dissidia! haha
Perhaps they're deliberately making it somewhat inconsistent and confusing for one reason and one reason only... and I reckon that reason is: so that it matches the rest of the Compilation! XD -- Sorceror Nobody, 22:40, 9 June 2009 (UTC)

| Guys I saw a Buster Sword on MHFU while I was browsing in, and it kinda is like a huge sword and looks like the Buster Sword, although without a different end. Should I put it in?

[edit] Carrying the buster sword
Hey im not sure if this is true but when zack carries the buster sword the blade is pointing in while cloud is carrying it...... the blacde is facing out......
[edit] The Reason For My Changes
I made some quick corrections to the page that were seemingly ignored, so I changed then back, and decided to explain why I did so.
The two holes on the Buster Sword are in fact Materia slots (not often mistaken as them), the SOLDIER harness that Cloud wears to sheath the sword uses a magnet to hold it in place, in no way are those slots used to hold the sword. With the increased graphical quality of the subsequent Compilation entries, the Buster Sword's two holes are even shown to resemble a linked Materia Slot.
As for the Final Fantasy X depiction of the Buster Sword, there is no slant, as the picture shown has the weapon displayed at a slight angle, as you can see the face and side of the handle, hilt, and blade.
