Gilgamesh: Enough expository banter!
This talk page is used for discussing improvements to the page "Bravely Default allusions". It is not the place for general discussion or sharing stories about the topic of this article.

Are there any more allusions, especially to the FF series? Just two allusions, an only one for FF series, is very little. I think that adventure of FFV also starts with the Wind Crystal, like Agnes's starts, but still it's not enough...—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 15:00, April 12, 2013 (UTC)

  • I'm working on the BDFF section without having the actual game or even an imported 3DS to play it on. I'm getting the info off of various JP webpages. So following the story in detail under these conditions is tough, and basically I'm not even trying to. Obviously, I'm going to miss most of the allusions this way. I started the page as little more than a stub--I noticed a couple of obvious allusions and decided to write them up before I forgot about it. I'm sure there's lots more.Hashmalum (talk) 01:53, April 18, 2013 (UTC)

Crystal order allusion?[]

Well, I've being playing Bravely Default (I'm stuck at Salve-Maker Qada. :( ), along with Final Fantasy Five. Anyways, before I go on a minor lecture on where I am, I noticed (I don't know correctly or incorrectly yet) that in both games, you encounter each crystals in the same order of Wind, Water, Fire, Earth (I will need to double check this on Bravely Default's side though) If so, is this an illusion?

If the crystal order mimics either that of the original Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, or Final Fantasy V that counts as an allusion. Well, with four crystals there are 24 combinations of encountering the crystals and I think each of the FFs I mentioned uses a different combination; but still, if the order is like in one of FFs that it's an allusion.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 10:00, January 17, 2014 (UTC)

It is the same for Bravely Default and FFV- currently got three out of the four crystals in both, and the only one I haven't got in both games is the crystal of Earth. The order is identical. I know the crystal order isn't the same in FFIII (water and fire are swapped around in FFIII and Bravely Default). Also, Edea's name could be an allusion to the character of the same name in VIII. Crystal acquirement order is certain to be an allusion, but I am not sure about Edea Lee being named after Edea Kramer? If they have some kind of similarity, than it's legible to list that as an allusion and mentioning the similarity, but without that similarity, it's not notable.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 20:15, January 26, 2014 (UTC)
If the crystal order is exact it could be an allusion or may just be a coincidence. similarity in a specific name is notable for being a possible allusion.. considering that both Edeas are major characters. Saying that a pub looks like a pub and is thus an allusion tho, is grasping at straws to me… or that whoever wrote that isn't being specific enough.--Arciele Spira (talk) 01:02, January 27, 2014 (UTC)

Steiner?[]

Would we really say that Steiner is an allusion to FFIX? I do not see any real similarity beyond the name; the Steiner in this game is selfish and spiteful. K4kirin (talk) 12:57, November 4, 2018 (UTC)
