Gilgamesh: Enough expository banter!

Proofreading Edit[]

I know that this doesn't go here, and I'm sorry ahead of time, but I made a bunch of little proofreading changes to the Story section (probably still missed some stuff; I started partway down, and the whole thing was messy) and didn't want to lose my progress to these annoying glitches. I keep getting infinite loading screens, and when the edit page does appear to work, I try to submit the edit, it tells me that I need to solve a challenge because I included new external links (I didn't.), but doesn't show me said challenge. I was hoping that someone here could take this, paste it in, and feel free to delete this from the talk page as though I was never here. Sorry for the inconvenience, but I just can't let the effort go to waste!67.43.249.134 11:41, March 4, 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for proofreading. I'm afraid story sections will always be messy... I implemented some of the changes you suggested and amended others. Also, while we're at it, this sentence is terrible:
Despite her previous anger at Basch aboard the Leviathan, the former captain vowed to his friend Vossler to look after her, and accompanies her with Fran, Penelo and Vaan joining as well.  mecorx (talk) - 13:59, Mar 04, 2017 Microchu ATB
Thank you! Agreed. Several lines were off, but that one was wrong on multiple levels. I wanted to see whether or not the issue that I had described had been fixed, so I went over the section with a fine-toothed comb and made so many corrections. Sometimes, I feel like I should just carry a book of punctuation (especially commas; you can debate the Oxford comma, but not the rest!) and grammar (in this case, especially tense congruence) around and smack people with it until the knowledge is beaten into them! In retrospect, it would've been much easier to make the whole thing present tense than past tense, as early as the switch had occurred . . . As I was saying, I went back and made a bunch of corrections to see if whatever is causing the problem had been solved . . . and, sadly, it hasn't. :/ Hopefully for the last time, here is a section for someone else to snip from this page and use to overwrite the story section:67.43.249.134 14:35, March 17, 2017 (UTC)

Please don't post the story section here at the talk page. You can edit the story section on the article and make any change you think would improve it. The convention we have agreed upon here is that the events that happen as the player plays the game are written in present tense, and past events (backstory, flashbacks) are written in past tense. I understand the change in tense can look annoying though.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:54, March 18, 2017 (UTC)

Move?[]

Can I move this to "Ashelia B'Nargin Dalmasca"? At first I thought that the Dalmasca part was just a title, but she does also refer to herself as "Ashelia Dalmasca" at one point. Diablocon 12:21, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

Really? Because I seem to recall that the old guy who constantly dreams (I've forgotten his name and title), only call her Ashelia B'nargin. --Hecko X 14:21, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Gran Kiltias Anastasis. But yeah, she is refered to by quite a few titles:
Ashe - Nearly eneryone
Ashelia B'Nargin Dalmasca - Dr Cid
Ashelia B'Nargin - Gran Kiltias
Ashelia Dalmasca - Herself, in the ending sequence
I was thinking of adding the Dalmasca since that seems to be her full title. Diablocon 14:49, 7 February 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, that was the one. But if what you say is true, then sure, I support the move. It seems to similar to the case of Princess Garnet. --Hecko X 17:45, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

I don't care what anyone says, but there was at least a little bit of romance in XII. There was clearly something going on between Vaan and Penelo, and (while this doesn't really count as romance) Baltheir flirted with just about every female (and a couple of males) that he met. -- Drake

There is an in-game reference: the airship bartender mentions that she's 9th in the line and the only girl. koku 01:32, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Expansion?[]

It's not exactly a stub, but I think a lot more could be added to this article--a more thorough progression/summary of Ashe-involved events in the game, possibly a personality section, etc. What do you think? Eowynjedi 16:14, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

I wasn't planning on writing a game summary (I know a lot of the FF4 articles are/were basically identical because of that), but just add more depth about the resistance, the Occuria, etcetera. At least getting rid of the different sections--there's way too much white space. The "afterwards" section just has one sentence.
This is part of what I've written (fourth paragraph):
However, Ondore told Ashe that it would be impossible for Bhujerba to openly join the Dalmascans in resistance without proof that Ashe was Queen--which could not be obtained without the Dusk Shard, or the missing Dawn Shard. He advised her to "do nothing until the time is right," counsel that Ashe immediately rejected. She walked out of the meeting, and attempted to comandeer the Strahl, Balthier's airship, in order to seek the Dawn Shard on her own. She was quickly discovered in the attempt by Vaan and Balthier, who both tried to talk her out of her quest, until Ashe suggested that--as a sky pirate--Balthier "kidnap" her, offering him the treasure of the Dynast-King's tomb as payment.
...and after that I was just going to say something like "quest for Dawn Shard, Rasler apparition, moral dilemma and then she told the Occuria to get stuffed," in a paragraph of the length above, then go on to the end of the game. Eowynjedi 01:41, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Time Mage?[]

Okay, how is Ashe a Time Mage? I don't think Job Class should even be included in games with character clones, unless they are only sometimes clones, such as in VI. II, III, V, VII, VIII, and XII should not have Job Class in their character boxes. She is not a Time Mage people! is there even "Time Magicks" in Final Fantasy XII? -- Drake

Face[]

Does anyone else think Ashe's face looks different in-game than in her artwork? In-game her eyes are smaller, her hair is more platinum blond, and in general she looks more mature IMO. Drake Clawfang 06:20, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

i agree the appearance of her face does look more mature than the artwork and renders seem to show. maybe it's because in game her face is largely flattened due to the graphics but she does look different. Hamfruitcake 09 09:35, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Is Ashe left-handed?[]

This is just a random detail I noticed, but while playing FFXII, I noticed that she holds some two-handed weapons left-handedly. Namely, rods, spears, and two-handed swords (and maybe others). She doesn't do this with all weapons, though, although it's actually a trait of left-handed people to be able to do many things with their right hand.

She touches her nose with her left hand in the official art, but does Quickenings with her right arm, slaps Basch with her right hand and victory poses seem right-handed.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 02:18, March 20, 2018 (UTC)
Ashe uses her right hand to wield one-handed sword. That should be clear enough that she's right-handed. For two-handed swords, her right hand is in the front (closer to the sword-guard), that's normal for right-handed swordsmen. And for two-handed spears, it's a bit more complicated. It depends on the stance and how you use the spear. The generic spear stance (like FFVII Cid), you wield it on the left side of your body, with your right hand before your left hand. This stance is better for piercing. Ashe's spear stance is more like slashing stance, but yeah, it's still weird for her to wield it like she's left-handed. It might be an error from the animation team. Monterossa (talk) 20:30, March 20, 2018 (UTC)

Dynast-Queen?[]

I know in the story the Occuria chose her to be the new Dynast-King, but in her case, should it be "Dynast-Queen? Yellowlightning1996 (talk) 14:26, September 9, 2018 (UTC)

I suppose you might be right. But, as no official source makes use of the term, best to leave things as they are. These "false gods" indeed picked her as the next omnipotent ruler, But she declined. Rather forcefully. Swordzmanp236 (talk) 20:00, September 9, 2018 (UTC)
