Does Alyssa have potential to be a playble character? So far she's the only new character we seen interact with Noel and Serah, and the fact that she wants to learn more about the whole paradox thing, and she lost a friend to the Purge could be her motivation to join them on their journey.
well , i hope so .. because her story will be kind of sad ya know
Alyssa might also join them because being a researcher and all, she could think: what better way to learn about paradoxes than to experience them first-hand? I'm also getting some Hope vibes from her, I think it's because of their bright-colored clothes and short hair, and that they both lost someone dear to them to the Purge. So far, she's the only NPC we know of with a name, and her design looks different from the other researchers in the demo. And if she is non-playable, then why has Square featured her so often in the recent trailers?

Alyssa makes a cameo in Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII as "A.Z.", the client for the Canvas of Prayers quest called "Fading Prayer". It's a global Canvas of Prayers quest, available after you complete the subquest "Saving an Angel" during Wildlands Mission 3-2. It seems even though history was changed so that she died in the Purge, the version of her that lived to 400 AF had its soul preserved somehow, and that soul continued to exist within the chaos for the rest of the XIII series.

I realise that I might overinterpretting things now, but as one can obviously notice her name's initial are "A.Z.". They are the first and the last letter of the Latin alphabet, similar how alpha and omega are the first and the last letter of the Greek aphabet. According to my research about "alpha and omega" concept, this is a symbol of God's omnipotence. As we all know her boss in FFXIII-2 was Hope Estheim who by the events of LR:FFXIII was acting as a vessel of sorts for the god Bhunivelze. Also, Alyssa's fake life in FFXIII-2 is the result of a divinity's action (in this case the goddess Etro) whose action of releasing Lightning and her company at the end of FFXIII caused a time distortion and revived her (Alyssa), but when Serah and Noel fix the paradox (I think it refers to piercing Caius' Heart of Etro) she fades away, thus her another life started and finished with a divinity's influence on it.
Does it kind as some form of hidden symbolism or, like I stated before, I'm overthinking things?
