Gilgamesh: Enough expository banter!
This talk page is used for discussing improvements to the page "??? (Final Fantasy V)". It is not the place for general discussion or sharing stories about the topic of this article.

I'm sure that someone out there knows how to merge this with "Golem (Final Fantasy V)". The tables are a little too advance for me. Fenrir9 03:58, June 29, 2012 (UTC)

Hmm... fairly certain you can't change the name when using {{tl|FFV multi Enemies}} so one's called "Golem" and another is "???". Any ideas? Does somebody have to recode the template? don't look at me, I'd rather not break itC A T U S E 04:46, June 29, 2012 (UTC)
Yes, you can change the name using multi Enemies. 1 RPGe/PS/GBA for the first version of an enemy, 2 RPGe/PS/GBA for the second version of an enemy, and so on up to 7 if needed. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 05:12, June 29, 2012 (UTC)
They should not be merged because they do not have the same name. 79.69.195.147 14:07, June 29, 2012 (UTC)
If it looks like Golem, acts like Golem, appears where Golem appears, related to the same event/story as Golem. Than it must be Golem. The first few sentence of this article has been summarized in the Golem article. Some of the wording here can be put into the Golem article very easily. @Some Color Mage - How do you go about in the merging? Like creating the third info for the monster. We have #271 and Dummy, how do we create the ??? tab? Again, I'm not much verse into working on those boxes. Fenrir9 17:27, July 3, 2012 (UTC)
They should not be merged because they do not have the same name. Infoboxes have been deliberately coded to only allow for an enemy under one-name to be used under it. The programmers gave them different names and thus intended them to be different otherwise they would have given the same name. We are catering for gameplay, not for story, therefore having them on separate pages does not cause the same problem.
We know that Masked Man, King Leo, and Baku are the same person, but in each instance they are given different names and therefore clearly intended by the developer to not be treated as the same. JBed 17:47, July 3, 2012 (UTC)
Those Baku sprites don't look the same... they are also not related to one another (appear in different events) either except that its the same person. Did you even read the Golem and ??? article? Golem and ??? are the same, plain and simple. Fenrir9 18:21, July 3, 2012 (UTC)
One is a random encounter, one is fought in a boss fight, both have different names. SE could have given the same name but didn't. JBed 18:41, July 3, 2012 (UTC)
What name a person or thing is given trumps everything else. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 18:46, July 3, 2012 (UTC)
That still doesn't make any sense. Zu (Final Fantasy IV) is fought as a boss (airship event) and as a random encounter, so why haven't they got a separate article for them? ??? isn't even a name... It's merely a placeholder due to Golem's "story", the developers doesn't want to reveal it to the players before hand. Think of it as a in-game spoiler tag. I believe in the game manual, they reveal all abilities including summoned monsters ones. Enhance the censored name tag. Fenrir9 19:00, July 3, 2012 (UTC)
Here's how the wiki treats enemy: If they have the same name and are clearly intended to be the same thing then they share a page (Logos (boss); Zu (Final Fantasy IV)). If they have different names, even if they are intended to be the same thing, they do not share a page (this scenario; Baku et al). If they have the same name and are clearly different things, they do not share a page (Left Arm (Carry Armor), Left Arm (Helletic Hojo)). A final boss or each member of the final boss gauntlet will always have their own page and be distinguished by the "Final Boss" tag if another enemy appears with the same name (Genesis (final boss), the three Ultimecia pages).
I'm sorry for challenging your "clearly the same thing" point, because at the end it's the name that matters (and also the "they're completely different" factor if they have the same name).
If you want to disagree you should do so in a forum as the change you want in this scenario would effect the way the entire wiki treats enemies. JBed 19:07, July 3, 2012 (UTC)
I fully agree with you. The way we treat the enemy pages keeps everything together and prevents a flood of near useless articles where the info on it can clearly be used elsewhere. You encounter Behemoths in FF IV as fixed encounters but they don't have a separate article (first thing that popped into my head).
And really, so what if ??? isn't a name. Neither is YSLS-Zero, really. And now I'm just being nitpicky. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 19:31, July 3, 2012 (UTC)
