Sword is a combat skill in Final Fantasy XI. The higher a character's sword skill, the more likely he is to score a hit and the greater damage potential he has with sword. In general, one point of sword skill equals 1 accuracy and 1 attack while using a sword.

JobsEdit

Sword is a basic combat skill in Final Fantasy XI and swords are usable by many different jobs, in general. Jobs not listed below do not have a sword ability, though there are certain weapons that may be listed as "All Job" and they can never-the-less equip them. Using them to any effectiveness is another story though. In general, of the list below, only those jobs with a B or better would probably use a sword as a main combat weapon.

EtymologyEdit

A sword is a blade weapon used primarily for cutting or thrusting. The precise definition of the term varies with the historical epoch or the geographical region under consideration. A sword in the most narrow sense consists of a straight blade with two edges and a hilt. However, in nearly every case, the term may also be used to refer to weapons with a single edge (backsword).
