Stoneskin

Stoneskin is a White Magic spell found in Final Fantasy XI. The ability gives a certain amount of damage resistance (in HP). This amount is determined by the caster's Mind and Enhancing Magic trait for Red Mages and White Mages (or a Summoner's Summon Magic ability in the case that Titan uses his Earthen Ward ability). The spell creates a status effect Stoneskin that will last for about 5 minutes or until the damage protection is used up. The protection offered by Stoneskin must be completely absorbed before that player will start to take damage again, even from degenerative statuses like Poison, Burn, etc.

It is useful for all classes, but is used mostly by mages hoping to compensate for low physical Defense and low Hit Points by providing a buffer from damage.

Stoneskin is available to White Mages starting at level 28 and to Red Mages starting at level 33. Summoners with Titan can use Earthen Ward at level 46. Blue Mages also have an ability called Metallic Body (learned from crabs) which grants Stoneskin starting at level 8. Summoners can grant the effect of stoneskin with Titan's Earthen Ward ability. Trolls have an ability known as Diamond Hide which is the same idea as Earthen Ward, but it cannot be removed by Dispel.
