Hunts with the powerful greatbow.
—In-game Description

Sniper (スナイパー, Sunaipā?) is a job from Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. Only viera can become Snipers after mastering two Archer abilities, whereas humes become Hunters. Snipers are the powerhouses of the viera job and wield the almighty greatbows in battle. The Sniper's array of sharpshooting abilities allows them to steadily weaken the opponent during battle. It is recommended that the player have Maintenance equipped while fighting enemy snipers, or the player might lose their equipment.

GrowthEdit

Snipers are fast and have the highest Attack out of all viera jobs, but their other stats are rather mediocre, and leave much to be desired. Purely Attack-oriented viera should consider the Sniper over the Assassin for leveling, since Snipers have higher HP, Attack and Resistance, and the extra MP, Magic Power and Speed the Assassin would give are not necessary, since the Sniper is already faster than almost everything else.

AbilitiesEdit

  • Note on Doom Archer:

Doom Archer's predicted damage is equal to:

Damage = (Caster's Max HP - Caster's HP)

However, this damage is randomly split between HP and MP damage, using the following:

HP Damage = Rand{0..Damage - 1}
MP Damage = Damage - HP Damage

Doom Archer cannot be used without a Bow or Greatbow equipped.

  • Note on Aim: Wallet:

Aim: Wallet steals a predicted amount of Gil equal to the Target's Max HP. The actual amount of Gil stolen varies as such:

Base = [Rand{128..384} * Target's Max HP / 256]
Gil Stolen = [Rand{128..384} * Base / 256]

EtymologyEdit

A sniper is a highly trained marksman who operates alone, in a pair, or with a sniper team to maintain close visual contact with the enemy and engage targets from concealed positions or distances exceeding the detection capabilities of enemy personnel.

TriviaEdit

  • The Sniper's Sharpshoot ability Beso Toxico is Spanish for "toxic kiss", though its correct spelling would actually be Beso Tóxico.
