The ship has been dragged off course by a mysterious force, and the men have begun to whisper of strange "things" in the water. Needless to say, you and your fellow adventurers will be having none of that. Once the ship reaches its unknown destination, you will go ashore and deal with whatever fiends you find.

Behind the scenes[]

The Sirensong Sea is inspired by the Ship Graveyard from Final Fantasy V. Despite the name and the dungeon it draws inspiration from, no sirens appear in the dungeon.

Due to the dungeon taking place out at sea, it does not have a defined region and is listed as "???" in the introduction cinematic. Its musical theme is based on "On Westerly Winds," the theme of the region of La Noscea, due to the voyage departing from Limsa Lominsa. In Encyclopedia Eorzea Volume 2, it is listed as Thavnairian geography, and the prison complex is said to have been constructed by the government of Radz-at-Han.

This is one of the few instanced dungeons to have friendly NPCs fighting alongside players.

Etymology[]

Sirens are from Greek mythology. In the story of Odysseus, the Sirens are beautiful women who lure sailors with their voices. Odysseus escaped the Sirens by having all his sailors plug their ears with beeswax. He was curious as to what the Sirens sounded like, so he let himself be tied to the mast to ensure he could not fall victim to their voices.
