Final Fantasy VIII.

Shockwave Pulsar (ショックウェーブパルサー, Shokkuwēbu Parusā?) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy VIII[]

Quistis's ultimate Blue Magic spell shows orbs lifting the enemies into a cloud-covered sky and a giant explosion engulfing them, dealing damage that may exceed the 9,999 limit. One of the final bosses also uses Shockwave Pulsar as its greatest attack.

Shockwave Pulsar can be learned from Dark Matter that can be refined from 100 Curse Spikes with Tool-RF ability. In the PlayStation version, Siren must be at Level 100 for it to work (PC/Remastered versions do not require this). The only other way is through the PocketStation game Chocobo World. Since the PlayStation version of Chocobo World is exclusive to Japan, and the normal quest for the Dark Matter is time-consuming, Shockwave Pulsar is one of the rarest skills.

The easiest way to collect 100 Curse Spikes is in the area with a save point in Deep Sea Research Center that spawns only Tri-Faces. They also give plenty of EXP for Siren to level up if she is not Level 100 already. Junctioning Siren as someone's sole Guardian Force allows her to get the entire EXP load after battle. Tri-Faces are also a common enemy in the second floor of Galbadia Garden before the auditorium during the Battle of the Gardens.

Shockwave Pulsar starts with a magic power of 150 at Crisis Level 1, and reaches 250 at level 4.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Shockwave Pulsar is a raidwide AoE used by the Oracle of Darkness in eternity savage.

Etymology[]

In physics, a shock wave (also spelled shockwave), or shock, is a type of propagating disturbance. When a wave moves faster than the local speed of sound in a fluid it is a shock wave. Like an ordinary wave, a shock wave carries energy, and can propagate through a medium; however it is characterized by an abrupt, nearly discontinuous change in pressure, temperature and density of the medium.

A pulsar (short for pulsating radio star) is a highly magnetized, rotating neutron star that emits a beam of electromagnetic radiation.
