Dark Flare is the version of Mega Flare cast by the boss Tiamat. It takes some turns to charge, but deals great damage to the party. Raising the characters' Fire, Ice and Lightning resistances can allow the party to fully absorb the attack, making the battle a sure win as Tiamat doesn't have any other attacks. Junctioning Ultima or Flare to a characters' Elem-Def is an easy way to raise resistance against all three elements.
Dark Flare is a special ability used by Lilith Ascendant. It's similar to the related ancient spell, but is directed in a fan-shaped area of effect at players.
ShadowFlare is part of the Keeper's Turning skillset and is the only Turning ability exclusive to him.
Shadow Flare is one of Sephiroth's Bravery attacks where he summons four orbs of darkness that close in on the target. He can use it on the ground initially, and learns to cast it in the air at Level 19. It costs 40 CP to equip and 180 AP to master.
Shadow Flare returns as one of Sephiroth's Bravery attacks, with longer tracking and increased stun duration. It now costs 30 CP to equip and 80 AP to master.
