Self-Destruct (自爆, Jibaku?), also known as Exploder, Kamikaze, Blowup, Explode, or Bomb Blast (ボム爆発, Bomu Bakuhatsu?), occurs most commonly as a Blue Magic spell. It typically KOs the spell caster while doing large damage (sometimes fire-elemental) to enemies. It is commonly used by Bombs and their ilk. Enemies that Self-Destruct usually result in no Experience Points, gil, or Item Drops being awarded for defeating that enemy.
The Damage calculation of the ability is as follows:
- (RandomNumber[20..40] * Level Of Ability ) - Defense Of Target
For example, if a Balloon uses Self-Destruct 1, a character with 40 Defense would completely negate the damage done from its attack.
Bomb-type enemies use Self-Destruct whenever they are not at max HP, and will deal damage to one party member equal to 4x their HP when they use the ability.
In the DS and iOS versions, if a Black Belt uses Boost for three consecutive turns, on the third usage it triggers Self-Destruct. This version of Self-Destruct removes the attack boost of Boost, and causes damage equal to half the user's max HP.
Bomb-type enemies, Armored Fiends, and Barnabas use Self-Destruct when low on health or in response to magic. Rydia can also learn the Bomb summon, which does damage to an enemy based on her current HP.
The special attack of Bomb-type enemies, they use Self-Destruct when low on health or if left alone for a long periods of time. The imposter Rydia can also learn the Bomb summon, which does damage to an enemy based on her current HP.
Both the enemy ability Self-Destruct and summon ability return; the former acts similarly to the previous game, whereas the latter has been changed and simply deals medium-high fire-elemental damage.
Self-Destruct is a Blue Magic spell learned from Azulmagia, Motor Trap, Bomb, Purobolos, Grenade, Gilgamesh or from Prototype or Unknown #171 by Controlling either with a Beastmaster. The attack inflicts KO on the user to inflict non-elemental piercing damage to one target equal to the user's current HP. It costs 1 MP to cast. Gilgamesh is the only one known to have survived this spell.
The player may utilize this ability by catching and releasing a Bomb.

Strago Magus can learn Self-Destruct as a Lore that costs 1 MP to cast. It will deal damage equal to Strago's current HP when used. Self-Destruct can be learned from Balloon, Bandit, Bomb, Dark Force, Grenade, Junk, Onion Knight, Gamma or Wartpuck.
Bomb Blast is Bombs and Grenades' suicide attack in Final Fantasy VII. It deals heavy damage on one target. Self-Destruct is another suicide attack a lot like Bomb Blast used by 2-Faced, that will either use Self-Destruct or Cure 3 on a party member as its final move before dying.
The Kamikaze command can be junctioned to a party member. It is initially learned by the Cactuar GF, but can be taught to any GF by using the Bomb Spirit item. Kamikaze is one of the most powerful attacks in the game, with the ability to reach 60,000 points of damage at the cost of losing the character. The amount of damage done is equal to the character's max HP multiplied by five, although the attack can be a critical hit. Any GF junctioned to the user that is removed from the battle due to this ability will still receive EXP and AP.
The Bomb enemy uses the Suicide attack after it has used Grow three times, and deals non-elemental damage to one party member.
Blowup is a spell only available to the Bomb enemy during the battle aboard the Prima Vista with Steiner. When the Bomb uses this ability, it blows up and deals damage to Steiner, automatically ending the battle. The incarnation of the Bomb fought later in the game as a regular Random Encounter does not have this ability.
Kimahri can learn Self-Destruct as a Ronso Rage Overdrive from Bomb, Grenade, Puroboros and Biran Ronso. When used, Kimahri is removed from the battlefield and cannot be revived or replaced. Therefore, if the rest of party members are KO'd, the Game Over screen will show up, even if the target was the last enemy alive and he defeated it. This ability inflicts damage on one enemy equal to three times Kimahri's maximum HP.
There is no ability called Self-Destruct, although similar abilities exist. Crackaboom!, Kaboom! and Kercrackaboom! are used by Bomb enemies. Hug Bug is used by Vermin enemies. These abilities KO the caster and no Experience Points, gil, and items are awarded after defeating that enemy.
The Dark Knight Dressphere ability Charon acts in a similar fashion, sacrificing the user to inflict unblockable special damage to one target, though the user is unable to be used for the remainder of the battle. It requires 20 AP to learn.
Self-Destruct is a Blue Magic spell that deals heavy area of effect fire damage and gives the caster Weakened, as status effect that greatly weakens the player in all respects that is usually only applied when revived with a Raise spell. It is learned from Bombs, although they actually commit suicide when they use it.
Other variations of Bombs have access to their own versions of Self-Destruct which cannot be learned as Blue Magic spells. Clusters (actually 3 small bombs) can perform a weak Self-Destruct individually, or all Self-Destruct at once to devastating effect. Djinn can use Nocturnal Combustion, which is identical to Self-Destruct but deals Dark damage. Similarly, Snolls have access to Hypothermal Combustion, which deals ice damage.
Self-Destruct is an enemy ability used by Bomb and Facer-type enemies; and Kamikaze is used by Vulture-type enemies. When one Bomb self-destructs it sets a chain reaction where all nearby Bombs explode as well.
Self-Destruct can be used by Bombs, Circuitrons, and Cryohedrons at any time, although never as their first move, and the higher the monster's health, the higher the damage. Self-Destruct sets up a chain reaction where all nearby Bombs explode as well.

Blue Mages learn Blowup from Bombs and Grenades. The ability deals 400% non-elemental damage to enemies on adjacent tiles, but knocks out its caster at the cost of 2 MP. It has a Magic Power of 15 and is susceptible to Absorb MP.
Once again called Self-Destruct, this Blue Magick spell is learned from Bombs. It deals damage to units on all sides, then KOs the user. It costs 8 MP to use.
Explode is a magical attack that has 1 uses, it also increases a Robot's HP by 9. The ability deals 1200 points of damage to all the enemies, and Stun the user. This attack can be used by Beholder and Watcher.
Explode deals physical damage dealt, the damage is equal to the maximum HP of the character that used it. The use is Fatal afterwards. Tire, Wheel, FireFan, 150mm, and 210mm can use this attack.
After receiving a certain amount of damage, Bombs start blinking and self-destruct after a set amount of seconds, damaging players around it while killing itself in the process.
Kamikaze is the third ability for the Monk crown and cost 3 AP to use. The ability causes the user to give up their life to attack all enemies and grows stronger depending on how many times the player has died.

Two Bomb cards bear abilities based on Self-Destruct, allowing the player to move the Bomb to the Break Zone to deal damage to Forwards. One Bomb using its Tactics art deals 3000 damage to all Forwards, while a Bomb card using its Theatrhythm art deals 4000 damage to one Forward of the player's choice.
The Grenade card's effect activates when the a Forward with less than 8000 power is played. The player moves Grenade to the Break Zone, then deals that Forward 8000 damage.
One of Gilgamesh's cards can use Self-Destruct. The player moves Gilgamesh to the Break Zone to choose up to two Forwards, and Break them.
