The Scholar (学者, Gakusha^?) is a job class in Final Fantasy III. It is gained from the Fire Crystal. Using their analytical prowess, scholars are able to analyze an enemy's HP and any existing weakness. They also use the mystical know-how of ancient tomes to damage enemies. Their extensive knowledge allows them to double the effects of items they use.

In this version, Study can now checks on enemy's HP and weaknesses both, but it can also removes any beneficial status effects, similar to the effect of both Libra and Erase.

All items used by the scholar have doubled potency, although this works only in battle, as items used in the menu screen are not used by a specific character.
