—Mastery certificate description
FF3-NES-Scholar

The Scholar (学者, Gakusha?) is a job class in Final Fantasy III. It is gained from the Fire Crystal. Using their analytical prowess, scholars are able to analyze an enemy's HP and any existing weakness. They also use the mystical know-how of ancient tomes to damage enemies. Their extensive knowledge allows them to double the effects of items they use.

AbilitiesEdit

Famicom versionEdit

  • Command Ability - Scan

Scan checks the enemy's weaknesses.

  • Command Ability - Peep

Peep checks the enemy's HP.

Remake versionEdit

Level White Magic Level Black Magic
1 Cure Poisona Sight 1 Fire Blizzard Sleep
2 Aero Toad Mini 2 Thunder Poison Blind
3 Cura Teleport Blindna 3 Fira Blizzara Thundara

Study can now check both an enemy's HP and weaknesses, but it can also remove any beneficial status effects, similar to the effect of both Libra and Erase.

All items used by the scholar have doubled potency, although this works only in battle, as items used in the menu screen are not used by a specific character.
