The Scholar is a job class in Final Fantasy III, both the NES original, and the Nintendo DS remake. It is gained from the Fire Crystal.

Scan checks the enemy's weaknesses, while Peep checks their HP. Due to the fact that White Mages are able to cast Libra, the Peep ability is most often left alone.

- Special Ability - Study, White and Black Magic Levels 1-3 and items used by the scholar have their potency doubled
Study not only reveals an enemy's HP and weaknesses, but it also removes any beneficial status effects on them too, similar to the effect of the Black Magic Erase. All items used by the scholar have doubled potency (ie: Instead of healing for 500 HP, a Hi-Potion used by a Scholar heals for 1000. Only works in battle}.
