X

The Sandragora is a fiend in Final Fantasy X. This enemy is found on the Bikanel Island. They can be easily avoided as they are visible on the terrain in quicksand pits, but they are a great source of AP for the coming battles.

Sandragora will drop armor with Poison Ward and/or HP +5% or 10%. They will also drop weapons with Poisontouch, and/or Magic/Strength +3%.

Unlike its other relatives, Grat and Ragora, Sandragora cannot be captured for the Monster Arena due to only a few being found in the Bikanel Desert.

Sandragora is a decent enemy to farm Remedies and Musks from as the monster can be fled from and engaged again unlimited number of times.

In the INT/PAL, and HD Remaster versions, one appears after the defeat of Dark Ifrit and attacks its summoner. Due to the screen blacking out and the scream that is heard, the Sandragora may have killed the summoner.

EtymologyEdit

Sandragora is a portmanteau of "sand" and "mandragora". Mandragora is a plant belonging to the nightshade family. According to legends surrounding witchcraft, when mandragoras (Mandrake plants) are uprooted, they emit a piercing scream which kills all who hear it.
