The Rune Blade (ルーンブレイド, Rūn Bureido?), also translated as Runeblade, Rune Sword, or Rune Edge, is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It often is related to the user's magical abilities.

The Rune Blade can be found in the Chaos Shrine and deals extra damage to enemy magic users. It provides 18 Attack, 15 Accuracy, and 27 Critical.
Final Fantasy V

The Rune Edge consumes 8 MP upon attacking for an automatic critical hit with 20 more Attack Power. It can be stolen from Stingrays, while one is found in Istory Falls. It provides 57 Attack and 50 Accuracy.
Final Fantasy VI

The Rune Blade consumes 10 MP upon attacking for an automatic critical hit. It can be found in the Narshe mines, and bought later in the World of Ruin in Nikeah for 7,500 gil, although by this time it is largely useless, or stolen from Number 024. Only Edgar, Terra, and Celes can equip it. It provides 55 Attack, +10% Evasion, enables the Bushido and Runic command.
Final Fantasy VII

The Rune Blade is a weapon for Cloud and can be found on Mt. Nibel, and can be bought in Junon for 3,800 gil on disc two. It has four unlinked Materia slots and gives double Materia growth, and provides 40 Attack, 108 Accuracy, and 9 Magic.
Final Fantasy IX

The Rune Blade teaches the Iai Strike ability to Steiner, and can inflict Darkness when attacking while equipped with Add Status. It provides 57 Attack, and can be bought at Daguerreo for 8,900 gil. If the weapon is not purchased before the player goes to Terra, it cannot be acquired and Steiner cannot learn Iai Strike.
Final Fantasy X

Any of Auron's katana can become the Rune Blade with the Magic +5% ability.
Final Fantasy XI

The Rune Blade is a rune weapon of the one-handed sword class. Like all rune weapons, it has additional effects as long as the weapon is drawn. In the Rune Blade's case, it increases Dexterity and raises its base damage.
Final Fantasy XII

The Runeblade is a one-handed sword with attack power of 85, which costs 60 LP to equip via the Swords 6 License. It is purchased at Balfonheim for 14,500 gil. Swords are among the slower weapons in Final Fantasy XII with 2.88s charge and 1.2s action time.
In the International Zodiac Job System, the Time Mage and Knight are the only classes able to equip the Runeblade. It requires the Swords 7 license for 70 LP.
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

The Runeblade is a weapon crafted from the Arms Encyclopaedia Recipe Book. It can also be bought in Chapter 5 for 3,600 gil, when it has the following stats: Attack +50, Magic +25, Attack Speed +60. It uses a generic sword sprite during battle.

The Rune Blade is a strong sword that can be forged by Clavat for 700 gil with a Master's Weapon scroll, a chunk of Mythril, and a chunk of Alloy. It has a Strength of 30 and is one of two weapons with the powerful Soulshot Focus attack. The only other weapon that can use Soulshot is Excalibur.
