Ruinga (ルインガ, Ruinga?), also known as Ruin III, is a recurring ability in the series, originating from Final Fantasy XIII. It is a non-elemental magic attack that hits all targets in an area and is associated with the Commando role.
Deal non-elemental magic damage to targets within a wide radius.
Ruinga is an offensive spell that deals non-elemental magic damage to all enemies in an area and has a chance of launching them in the air. It can be used by the Commando and requires three ATB charges to cast. It is the tier 2 equivalent of Ruin.
All characters are able to learn Ruinga:
- Lightning at Stage 8.
- Sazh at Stage 9.
- Snow at Stage 8.
- Vanille at Stage 10.
- Hope at Stage 9.
- Fang at Stage 8.
Ruinga is especially useful against a group of fast enemies, such as the enemies at Sulyya Springs, because it interrupts the enemies' actions when used and stops them from ganging up on a single character.
Ruin and Ruinga retain their respective ATB costs and effect, but using En-spells to adjust the element has become a less favorable option due to the En-spells being taught to only a few Paradigm Pack Synergists, and often the monster Synergist learn only one En-spell.
Ruinga returns as a non-elemental spell that hits multiple enemies. Its ATB cost is quite low despite being a -ga level spell. Ruinga is useful especially if the enemy absorbs or is immune to some element, and while fighting a group. During the final battle, Bhunivelze can cast it up to three times in a row, sometimes alongside Giga-Graviton and, in lower chances, simultaneously.
Ruin III is a Summoner spell acquired after completing the "A Miner Negotiation" job quest available at level 54. Ruin III deals unaspected damage with a potency of 120. The spell has a cast time of 2.5 seconds and a recast time of 2.5 seconds. Under normal conditions the spell has a prohibitively high MP cost; however, when the player is under the effect of Dreadwyrm Trance, the MP cost is reduced.
Ruinga is an ability used by Lightning.
