Ruinga (ルインガ, Ruinga?), also known as Ruin III, is a recurring ability in the series, originating from Final Fantasy XIII. It is a non-elemental magic attack that hits all targets in an area and is associated with the Commando role.
Deal non-elemental magic damage to targets within a wide radius.
Ruinga is an offensive spell that deals non-elemental magic damage to all enemies in an area and has a chance of launching them in the air. It can be used by the Commando and requires three ATB charges to cast. It is the tier 2 equivalent of Ruin.
All characters are able to learn Ruinga:
- Lightning at Stage 8.
- Sazh at Stage 9.
- Snow at Stage 8.
- Vanille at Stage 10.
- Hope at Stage 9.
- Fang at Stage 8.
Ruinga is especially useful against a group of fast enemies, such as the enemies at Sulyya Springs, because it interrupts the enemies' actions when used and stops them from ganging up on a single character.
Ruin and Ruinga retain their respective ATB costs and effect, but using En-spells to adjust the element has become a less favorable option due to the En-spells being taught to only a few Paradigm Pack Synergists, and often the monster Synergist learn only one En-spell.
Ruinga returns as a non-elemental spell that hits multiple enemies. Its ATB cost is quite low despite being a -ga level spell. Ruinga is useful especially if the enemy absorbs or is immune to some element, and while fighting a group. During the final battle, Bhunivelze can cast it up to three times in a row, sometimes alongside Giga-Graviton and, in lower chances, simultaneously.
Ruin III is a Summoner spell acquired after completing the "A Miner Negotiation" job quest available at level 54. Ruin III deals unaspected damage with a potency of 200. The spell has a cast time of 2.5 seconds and a recast time of 2.5 seconds. Under normal conditions the spell has a prohibitively high MP cost; however, when the player is under the effect of Dreadwyrm Trance, the MP cost is reduced.
Ruinga I-III are magic attacks available only to Morrow to use. The spells can only be learned from the Lilith signet. All Ruinga spells deal heavy non-elemental magic damage to a single enemy and cost 45 MP to use.
In the original free-to-play versions of the game, Ruinga I-III could be used by any party member equipped with the Lilith signet. Each version of the spell dealt more damage depending on the summon's rank and had increased MP costs for each version of the spell.
Ruinga is an ability used by Lightning.
