Ronfaure (Final Fantasy XI)
Talk0this wiki

Added by BluetashRonfaure is an region of northern Quon in Final Fantasy XI. This region mostly consists of the vast woodlands that surround the Kingdom of San d'Oria. Once a race predominately made up of hunters, the Elvaan still value their ties to the forest by protecting it--even though the thick foliage leaves them vulnerable to sneak attacks by enemies who lurk in its shadows.
When the kingdom was at its peak, the knights would lead patrols through the trees, maintaining peace throughout the land. But now, the weakening lion of San d'Oria no longer has the power to assure the safety of those who travel through the forest; the region has become a hiding place for ravenous Orcs and thieving Goblins. During the Crystal War this region was incorporated into the Ronfaure Front.
Because this region is directly adjacent to one of the starting nations, most of its content is geared to low-level jobs and new player characters. For this same reason, it is often the site of holiday events to ensure easy access to players of all level ranges.

Zones
Edit
West Ronfaure
Edit
This wooded area lies to the west of San d'Oria's gates. Many years ago, the Orc forces captured the area surrounding Mount Ghelsba, then proceeded to relentlessly dispatch troops into the surrounding region from their newly constructed fort. The region's outpost is located in this zone.
A pathway southward leads to La Theine Plateau in the southwestern corner.
East Ronfaure
Edit
This lush evergreen forest, set aside by the d'Oraguille family for hunting festivals, lies to the east of the Kingdom of San d'Oria. Blessed by the abundant waters of the Cheval River, the wildlife in these woodlands has flourished for centuries.
A Cavernous Maw connects East Ronfaure to the time of the Crystal War twenty years in the past. A mountain trail in the northeast leads to Ranguemont Pass.
King Ranperre's Tomb
Edit
Somewhere deep within this enormous expanse of catacombs lie the remains of the 24th heir to the throne of San d'Oria: Ranperre, the Dragon King. It is said that the king--who was a dragonslayer--had entrusted the protection of the tomb to a black dragon that had been spared in exchange for its services.
This zone is notable for for having high level enemies in the deeper sections, including the fearsome wyrm Vrtra. This tomb is also the only way to reach the north side of the Crystal Lake in Jugner Forest.
Ghelsba Outpost
Edit
Ghelsba is an Orcish stronghold, comprising three Final Fantasy XI zones.
This vanguard outpost for the Orcish Empire is home to the Vilebloods, who are led by the merciless Warchief Vatgit. Only the most fearless, vicious, bloodthirsty Orcs are selected to be a part of the Warchief's ranks. Many knights travel to this area to engage the enemy, but never return home.
This zone is notable for containing a small battlefield in the southwestern section, which is used for a number of encounters.
Fort Ghelsba
Edit

Added by RawlingFort Ghelsba is the second of these zones and the heart of the Orcish stronghold. There are far more tents here than in the outer zone, Ghelsba Outpost, suggesting that the Orcs actually live here as opposed to merely patrolling the area. Moderately powerful orcs are quite common here. The third, cave-like area, Yughott Grotto, can be accessed from both Ghelsba Outpost and Fort Ghelsba.
On the whole, Ghelsba is considered a low-level area due to the general weakness of the monsters. It is uncommon to find players grinding here beyond level 15.
Yughott Grotto
Edit
The Orcs once used Elvaan slaves to dig this tunnel, which was originally intended to lead all the way under the walls of the San d'Orian citadel. However, the short-tempered Orcs soon found that their plan would be far more difficult to carry out than they previously thought, so they simply gave up their pursuit of the project.
Horlais Peak
Edit
Located at the highest peak of Mount Ghelsba, this zone contains the famous Horlais hot springs as well as a Burning Circle battlefield.
Bostaunieux Oubliette
Edit
This prison, accessed from the basement of the Chateau d'Oraguille, is not currently in use by the Kingdom of San d'Oria, although a few guards are still kept to patrol the halls. The deeper recesses of the oubliette is accessible only through a guarded trap door. Due to the creatures lurking deep within this area, the prison is dangerous to even the most worthy of adventurers.
Trivia
Edit
- "Ronfaure" is the ancient Elvaan word for "rabbit hole."
