Rod (Male)

Rod (Male), real name chosen by player, is one of the playable male Turks in Before Crisis -Final Fantasy VII-. He is an arrogant ex-bike gang member from Midgar. His speech is still very informal and crude. He is also a great mechanic, and dislikes snow.

He became the leader of his bike gang at eighteen and then spent most of his time stealing motorcycles and getting into turf wars. Since he was already an excellent fighter, he went through most of his life without losing once. With certainty that he was invincible, his gang had complete trust in their leader. After spotting a motorcycle in Shinra Headquarters, he decided to steal it. However, he finds the job to be far more difficult than he imagined, and he barely escapes with his life. Following that, he realized he was not as strong as he thought, and so decides to become the best by working with the best: the Turks. His dreams now are to eventually assume leadership of the group.

Aside from his role in Before Crisis, he also appears in Last Order -Final Fantasy VII- and Advent Children Complete during a special feature which gives the complete timeline of the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII using footage from all of its games. In the footage from Before Crisis he is used as the player character, under the name "Crisis".

Each Turk has a weapon particular to him or her. Weapon upgrades can be purchased using RP (Rank Points) gained from completing missions. Rod's weapons, a collection of telescoping batons, are similar to Reno's weapons of choice, however, while Rod's possesses a blue emblem on the baton's grip, Reno's possesses a red one.
It is possible to have the weapon attacks take on elemental attributes by slotting the appropriate Materia into the weapon.

• Stealing a motorcycle from the Shinra Headquarters is a reference to Cloud Strife's escape from the building during the events of Final Fantasy VII.
• Rod (Male)'s red hair and choice of weapon call to mind fellow Turk Reno.
