The glitch in action

The Reviving Enemies Glitch is a glitch found where defeated enemies are revived. Usually defeated enemies disappear off the screen and thus cannot be brought back with Phoenix Down and other reviving methods.

AppearancesEdit

Final Fantasy IVEdit

In the SNES version of Final Fantasy IV and involves having a character use Life or the Life1 item on an enemy who is about to die (best done by using the Tornado spell on the enemy). When the enemy dies, the character will use the spell or item on the enemy and revive it, but due to a glitch in the game, all revived enemies will come back with 0 HP, and thus, it will die immediately. There will be no graphics of the monster coming back, but the animation of the revival spell or item will still happen. What this does is gives the player double the EXP and GP of the monster that was revived. If done quickly, it is even possible for a player to do this twice in a row, thus tripling the EXP and GP of that monster.

Final Fantasy VEdit

There is a glitch in the iOS version involving the Dancing Dagger, where if the player dual-wields the Dancing Dagger with another weapon and has the Dancing Dagger attack first and it uses Jitterbug that kills the enemy, the attack from the other weapon will bring the vanished enemy back on the screen. The enemy counts as defeated, and will never attack. The battle is won after killing all other enemies.

Final Fantasy VIEdit

Glitch #1Edit

The glitch can only be created by X-type Instant Death weaponry (Assassin's Dagger, Ichigeki, Wing Edge, and Viper Darts) and multiple hits (Dragon Horn or Master's Scroll) because it requires multiple kills to witness. Cast Reraise to a living enemy and kill it along with an undead enemy in the same turn with something like Ichigeki/Master's Scroll combo. When the revivals take place, the undead monster(s) will return and then Reraise will activate. For whatever reason, the game "forgets" to restore the living monster's graphics when this occurs, rendering revived living monsters Hidden, making it un-selectable and renders it un-hittable.

Glitch #2Edit

A second glitch involving revival, if the player cast Reraise on an undead enemy, this can be done by casting Confuse for a direct cast or simply have either Strago or Gogo use Rippler to trade the Reraise status. Then strike it with any instant death weaponry or the Death spell, both of these will revive undead enemies. The enemy will die, come back to life, trigger the Reraise status on itself, and die again. This does not work on undead character(s) equipped with the Lich Ring because they do not go through any special death or revival sequence.

Final Fantasy VIIEdit

The Angel Whisper enemy skill can revive dead enemies if issued before the target's demise. Usually when a target dies all actions against it are redirected, but Angel Whisper isn't, which is why it can be used to revive dead enemies.
