RenzokukenVIII

Renzokuken in Final Fantasy VIII.

Renzokuken (連続剣, Renzokuken?, lit. Continuous Sword), also known as C. Sword, Continuous Sword, Blade Flurry or Relentless Rush, is a recurring Limit Break in the Final Fantasy series and a signature ability of Squall Leonhart. It sees the user deliver a series of rapid strikes with their gunblade before ending in a finishing maneuver.

Appearances[]

Final Fantasy VIII[]

Renzokuken is Squall's main limit break. It sees him rush forward as a gauge appears on the screen. Four to eight bars of light sweep through the gauge, and pressing the assigned trigger button when the bars move into the trigger box on the left results in a critical hit. The amount of hits performed in a single Renzokuken is dependent on Squall's Crisis Level.

Squall has an increasing chance to perform either Rough Divide, Fated Circle, Blasting Zone, or Lion Heart as a finishing blow depending on his Crisis Level. Which finishing blow is used is unaffected by the Crisis Level, but has a fixed chance of occurring depending on which weapon Squall has equipped.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Relentless Rush is a limit break used by Gunbreaker Gunbreakers in PvP PvP content. It is a channeled ability that can be used while moving, and while active the Gunbreaker deals heavy damage over time to nearby enemies as they unleash a flurry of blade strikes. Each hit applies a stacking debuff that further increases damage taken. While Relentless Rush is active the Gunbreaker can perform Terminal Trigger Terminal Trigger as a finishing maneuver, ending Relentless Rush early to deal massive damage to and Stun Stun nearby enemies.

D012 EX - Renzokuken

Squall's EX Burst is the Renzokuken, requiring him to time presses of Right shoulder button to land a potential eight hits. He finishes with a variation of Lion Heart; rather than attack enemies with several rapid attacks, it is downplayed to a single attack reminiscent of the final blow seen in the original where Squall charges energy into the Lion Heart and dashes past the opponent to strike them once, releasing a shockwave on impact.

Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia[]
