Ffxiii2 red chocobo

Red chocobo (赤チョコボ, Akachokobo?) is a recurring type of chocobo. It is usually the most physically powerful type of chocobo in games where it participates in battle, often possessing the devastating Choco Meteor.

AppearancesEdit

Final Fantasy IVEdit

IV In Final Fantasy IV Advance and Complete Collection, red chocobos are seen during Cecil's trial in the Lunar Ruins. They have no influence in gameplay outside this cameo.

Final Fantasy VIIEdit

VII Red chocobos can appear among the mounts of NPCs in chocobo racing at the Gold Saucer. They cannot be acquired for riding by the player.

Final Fantasy IXEdit

IX Choco becomes a red chocobo from the Dawn Lagoon Chocograph. Referred to as the Mountain Chocobo, he can ride over hills and mountains. The mountain chocobo further upgrades into the navy blue Sea Chocobo. Red chocobos appear as NPCs in Chocobo's Paradise.

Final Fantasy XIEdit

XI Through chocobo raising, adventurers can breed and raise red chocobos for use as personal mounts. However, the chocobo's color is merely an aesthetic difference that has no impact on the bird's attributes or abilities. Additionally, Red Chocobo Dye may be used to cause a player's chocobo to appear to be red regardless of its actual color.

According to lore, a breed of chocobo known as the Courser will on rare occasion be born with a red coloration instead of the usual yellow. These larger-than-average chocobos were originally bred in the Kingdom of San d'Oria for scouting purposes.

Final Fantasy XIIEdit

XII Red chocobos appear on the Ozmone Plain in the areas Haulo Green and Field of Light Winds, rarely replacing one of the usual black chocobos that spawn.

The Lv.99 Red Chocobo is one of the rarest and most powerful enemies in the game. To spawn it, the player must kill six chocobos in the Haulo Green area of the Ozmone Plain, then zone away two areas and return. There is a 1 in 256 chance that the Lv.99 Red Chocobo will be among the respawned normal chocobos. It continuously uses Choco Comet to do heavy damage to the party.

Final Fantasy XII: Revenant WingsEdit

FFXIIRW Red chocobos appear as an enemy in Midlight's Deep among other chocobo types, and are notable for having high attack speed.

Final Fantasy XIII-2Edit
