Red Mage (Final Fantasy V)

From Final Fantasy Wiki

"Versatile mages, versed in both black and white magic"
—Description

The Red Mage is a job in Final Fantasy V, which is given to you after the Water Crystal shatters.

[edit] Appearance

The main cast as Red Mages.

Red mages wear red clothes, red capes, and a red hat with a feather in it, just like in every other Final Fantasy. Krile's outfit has a slightly pink tint to it.

[edit] Abilities

  • Job Command - Red Magic
  • Innate Abilities - None
  • Equipment - Knives, Sword, Rod, Staff

Red Mages are powerful early and late in the storyline. Early in the game, you have access to both level 1-3 White Magic and Black Magic while being a decent attacker. Later on, Dualcast works extremely well with the other high level magic classes.

In the hands of the Red Mage, Dualcast only lets you cast two level 3 Black Magic and level 3 White Magic at once. But give this command to a Summoner, and they will be able to cast two summons at once. Give it to a Time Mage, and you'll have the ability to cast two time spells at once. One of the most useful commands in Final Fantasy V if you plan on raising a lot of spellcasters.
